The Vepr 12 in the pic is my slug gun, the magnifier and RDS are there so I can put a slug "right on the money" at that kind of distance.

So the answer is yes, it's there if I need it, and the magnifier swings out of the way if I don't need it.

I've mentioned several times including the reference here about my implant surgeries, and the use of a red dot and a magnifier w/my eyesight being what it was, which assured that I'd put a slug "on the money".

Yes, my big head gets a perfect check weld on this rig just fine.
(shooting close-up to get detail in the sights, there's a bit of distortion)
Makes perfect sense, thank you Softheart for the answer.

I saw the mention of implants in your initial post but did not know what that meant, and did not want to assume anything.

Had a slight problem w/my rt eye. I thanked God I went down to the Stein Institute who did tests.

They warned me in a very nice way that I was on my way to losing my vision in both eyes. That it would start w/me losing my night vision in maybe 2 years.

It would then get worse to where I'd have to put down my guns, my cameras, and eventually I would lose my drivers license.

The surgeries got rid of the cataracts/astigmatism w/new implants, and the pressure inside my eyeballs w/a stint in each eye.

It may not look right in the pic, but I get a perfect cheek weld w/this rig; if I didn't, I'd be running another set-up.
