They had a silver at the Pheasant's Forever raffle yesterday. It just looked cheap to me in all aspects. No...I didn't handle it.

I love Berettas, have a bunch of them, but have never been impressed with the SP-I. They have been finding ways to make the 686 cheaper for years, and the early ones were much nicer guns. The 687 Silver Pigeons are a different story and a better comparison for the CG. CGs are nice guns, well built and serviced, but much of their appeal is cosmetic. Whatever one might think of CGs, they are pretty.

Nobody has ever accused cg of making bad guns. If it fit nicely, that's easily a gun you can be happy shooting for the rest of your life. Congrats!

I was speaking to the Mossberg Silver.

But ya...I'm not enamored with the Silver Pigeon either. The relief "engraving" looks a little comical to me. Made cheaper doesn't mean made poorly though. The Browning Citori was made cheaper than the Superposed, but it would hard to say they aren't just as reliable, durable. Perhaps not the emotional penache, but not inferior.

In Beretta O/U's, I have a couple 682 Golds (not Gold E), a Garcia era BL-2. I have an old SxS Silver Hawk (Beretta made Galef imported gun...not really model numbered, but close to a 409) as well.

YA..CG's are very pretty. Those aesthetics are part of the price.
