I won't be there, out of town with the wife, but the rest of the crew will be there.

I was in your same boat earlier this year (February) and knew what I wanted and just kept my eyes glued to the classified ads here. A Beretta A400 Xplor, BNIB, never fired popped up on the classified for $400 below retail, I jumped on it. I was recently at the range and the guy behind the counter was showing me some handguns on consignment. Showed me a glock 19 which I had no interest in and said no thank you. After 15min I thought a friend of mine might want it so I called him, went back to the guy behind the counter and it was sold to someone else.

Point is: keep your eyes on the classified's here as much as you can and when you find a good deal, or something you have your mind set on at a reasonable price, If you're not in a rush, something will pop up. O/U's are awesome for certain activities (namely clay sports) but if you are going to be hunting, as many others have said, 3 shells are better than 2 and a 1lb difference in overall weight (A400 vs Citori Sport) is a pretty significant difference. Something else others have said that you should really take to heart, the best money you can spend is going to be on shells and hours at the range. A $2k shotgun is only as good as the person holding it.

Best of luck in your search!

For waterfowl I'll agree. However, looking at the specs an A400 weighs the same as my Grulla SxS (6.7 lbs). For upland game if one needs three shots then one needs to spend more time shooting clays, or be Governor of SD .

          Yes. Yes. Yes md2020.

Last I heard our squad has room for one more. And a couple are shooting the second session as well. I am on the fence with shooting the second but maybe.

If you want just call in and ask to shoot with Terry, John, Dave, Richard, and Ryan. I think we start on 15.

Jeff is going also. Looks like we might have a 'b' squad.

There are some good general tips here, but get what you want. Not what makes sense to most of us.

Me! I have a Remington 870 and a Browning Citori XS Skeet. I doubt that I will ever part with either. The 870 serves as a shooter for when I take a buddy to do some Trap. That and it is decked out at home for potential self defense.

My only regret what I got the Citori was I cheaped out and didn't get a factory adjustable comb. I did later but again I cheaped out and had it cut by a local supposedly good gun smith. I should have sent it to a guy in the upper Midwest.

If I were looking for one gun for hunting and occasional skeet/trap I would go with either the A300 or A400. How old are you OP? A semi auto can save a lot of wear and tear on the rotator cuff.

Nice set up! The extras - tube set, chokes, stock work, and case would add up to more than the asking price alone!

My son switched to a OU Browning Cynergy Wicked Wing Max 5 for duck this year from a Winchester SX3 he’s hunted with for the past 6-seasons, but he’s a great wing shot...

Couple things about the OU for birds is 2 chokes and he doesn’t have to deal with the game warden wanting to paw his gun to check to see if it has a plug in the magazine.

Cerakote bronze and chrome lined barrels, but it’s near twice the cost of the OP’s budget...

What about picking up spent shells sent flying from semi-auto while hunting? Unless carrying a magnet on a stick I would certainly choose an O/A or SxS to extract the shells manually, as I reload them anyway. Bringing them back to the vehicle only to trash them is a shame. I am not sure if any of my shooting buddies hunt with a semi-auto.

Did you ever hear of a shell catcher for a semi?
