If "you" don't tell anyone,,, how would anyone know?

On the other hand it is perfectly legal to shoot rats with a Pellet gun with lead pellets. With the shotshells you are talking a minuscule of lead.

Just get a decent Air Rifle. You'll have lots more fun with it and it is much more useful than .22 shotshells.

If you reload and have something chambered in .45 acp, what works for me are like diy mini shotgun shells...

.308 cases cut down, #12 shot, Winchester .410 white cups, and cardboard discs to cap the end.

You'll need a case trimmer, and RCBS has the dies.

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

I used to run the Mo-skeet-o range at a Boy Scout Camp for several years. We shot mini-clays with smoothbore Remington single-shot smoothbore .22 LRs. They worked surprisingly well and it was the favorite activity at camp, along with the lake.

I had an invasion of rats in my attic recently...

I used a Ruger Single Six (with with a 9.5" barrel) loaded with CCI shotshell to dispatch them. It's perfect for in the attic as it does not penetrate fully through 1/2" of drywall...but it rolls a grown rat right off its feet. It definitely gets the job done.

This was 50 years ago. I mis-typed to say "shoot" instead of "shot."

I had one of those Remingtons. Given to me by an Aunt. I couldn't see the purpose at the time and the local Rangemaster talked me into selling it to him.

Don't know what your purpose is...

but don't forget about air shotguns.

We've got a great price on the Gamo Viper Express Air Shotgun & Rifle. Get a great price and expert advice at Pyramyd for your next outdoor adventure!

Shoot pellets or shot! Load special .22-cal. shotshells loaded with No. 9 shot, or put .22-cal. pellets into a chamber adapter (metal insert).

Built on the proven reliability of the Gamo 1000 powerplant, you'll get 750 fps when shooting pellets and 725 fps with shotshells from the choked smoothbore. When shooting shot, you'll get 1/4" penetration into 200-lb. compressed paperboard.

Because of the spin imparted by the rifling, the pattern spreads quickly and forms a hole right in the center.

I have a BSA 22 smoothbore single shot bolt action. Using a smoothbore will triple the effective range. Mind you, that means 10 yards instead of 10 feet. The #12 shot used in 22 shotshells doesn't maintain much momentum no matter what kind of barrel you use. It's called dust shot for a reason.

                          Not good
                          The reverse is also true.
                          I tried pushing 40gr .22lr out of a Remington 510 .22lr smooth bore.
