    Benelli M1 Zero Issue

Hey all new to shotguns but avid shooter.

Have a Benelli M1 18.5" Tactical with Rifle Sights. It's shooting dead on at around 20 yard but a 4 FOOT (HIGH) at 50 Yards! Which makes no sense to me. I was shooting Prime 400g competition slugs.

What's the issue or is that some how normal?

Sights are off? Barrel bent? Try a different ammo?

It's a shotgun, not a rifle. Are you looking to hunt with it?

I have the exact same gun. 20 yards is more than enough distance for me.

Longest shot I have in my house, is 20'

All Benellis have zero issues. Too many of them in the price tag.

I was trying to shoot steel at 50 years. POA was 4ft below target to hit steel. Dead on at 15-20 yards.

I know its a shotgun but didn't seem like a normal drop. Double checking if its and ammo or hardware issue.

If you are zeroed at 20yd there should only be a 1" drop at 50yd with that ammo published speed of 1475fps. And the sights have zero effect on this fact.

I’d re zero at 50. Then see what 20 looks like. I’ll bet your close.

This was the ammo and the kick was pretty mild. I shot 100 rounds and not a bruise.

                My two best guesses are:
                - Ammo was under powered/performing
                - Something with the barrel/sights

Could be operator error but thats a lot of drop at 50ft.

Attached a picture of the steel and POA. I had to aim at the railroad ties to hit the steel. Dont think sights would fix or cause that.

Here is a video of the ammo too. He's hitting 25-100 yards with it with assuming pretty standard POA, POI.

Your pic is confusing. Are those the railroad ties on the ground out there in the distance? If so where is the steel. Can you make arrows pointing to your aim point and impact point?

There is two red dots in the picture (Left side). One was the impact on the steel the other was the POA.

                          Should have bought......

Never shot a M1, but both of my M4s will hit a 1'x1' steel plate at 100 yards with ease!

I'd say it's the shooter. JMHO

Jeez, lighten up Nancy. Can't see a joke when it's too obvious maybe? I love a Benelli.

The only way the thing you describe could be explained is if the ammo was severely underloaded with powder, the bore is restricting the speed, or the shooter has no idea what he is doing. I don't even know if this could be explained by a bent barrel.
