Benelli M1 Super90 Stove Pipe Problem

My gun does not eject the shells when using low recoil shells. I heard that you can change a spring to remedy this problem. Is this easy to do and if so, where can I get the parts, what parts do I need and how do I do it? Are there any downsides to it? I am going to use it in 3 gun matches.

    Thanks.

What ammo are you trying to run? If shooting 3-gun, you can basically run:
    * 1 1/8 oz 7 1/2 bird shot from Wally world (note 1 oz will usually not cycle reliably)
    * reduced recoil slug of your choice (full power slugs if you're a manly man!

Both of those loads should run without a problem in an M1

Either buy a reduced power recoil spring from wolfe or an SRM SureCycle recoil spring assembly (standard weight). I did the latter after my recoil spring broke (~20k rounds). Mine cycles 7/8 oz bird shot no problem.

I'm still runing OEM springs and have never had a problem shooting 1oz field loads in my M1. Have you taken it appart for cleaning and inspection?

          Downsides? Yes, reliability.

Buck up camper! Don't let that girl muscle you around. The M1 is not a heavy recoil gun anyways. I throw 1oz slugs down the pipe and I have no issues. It's all about control.

IMHO, reduced recoil loads are for women and children. You're not a little girl are ya??

Are you running a pistol grip? My M1 cycles light loads fine with the straight stock, but gags when running the pistol grip. I suspect it's the extra weight of my arm, 'attached' to the gun

Brownells sells Wolff springs you can get a reduced weight spring for about 10 bucks.

Lo recoil slugs are the only way to go for 3 gun.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

Are you running the M1S90 lubed up? Benelli's can be sensitive to lubrication.

mine took 2-3k shells to break in and now shoots everything ...now the bolt floats like a air hocky puck. They hate low loads at first but then they eat them up. you can try a spring ...or just lube it with a light weight lube and shoot it up.

No, not a girl but I think I might be a lesbian.

Besides the 3 gun set up, I get the low recoil stuff for faahhreee!

Sorry for the delay, this thread got lost in my computer somewhere. Thanks for the replies.

When I had an M1 (Now I have an M4) mine did not cycle any light loads and I followed all advice on taking off weight.

My cousin's would cycle everything and he had light and shell carrier.

I notice they are individually finicky. I gave up on it and later got an M2, then sold it for the M4.

I put over 1500 rounds through the M1 following the adivce of breaking it in, but to no avail. Gave up on it cycling light stuff.
