Beretta 1301 Comp - Best Setup

I just purchased a 21" Beretta 1301 Comp bare w/ no rails or sights for home defense.

Its my first shotgun and I want it be practical, reliable, and look cool.

I read that I should get an extension from Nordic? A youtuber said I should get a Olight pro. The main thing I think i need is sights. But have no clue as to whats best or how to install.

Any suggestions would be appreciated... including pictures or your setup and specific moded/product information.

Maybe you should shoot it first before you go modding it.

A Beretta semi SG has completely different manual of arms compared to pumps so you need to be familiar with operations during stress.

Keep it simple. Add a white light system first so you can see if you really need to shoot, then add capacity and extra loads. Up to you when to mount single point sling.

Forgot to add, test your shells, too light a load and they cycle unreliably.

1301 cycles everything, never had an issue with mine, I would agree on shooting it and getting acquainted with loading and safety release lever, this shotgun needs practice with. Op congrats on your purchase.

Yours didn't come with a fiber optic front sight? My 21" Comp had a fiber optic front sight from the factory. I have Mesa Tactical Urbino Enhanced/ Limbsaver pistol grip stock available for sale if you're interested. I also added a Lancer systems +3 Carbon Fiber mag tube...it fits flush with a choke, almost flush without. Added Velcro Shotgun Shell card side saddle.
I also added this for a light mount.

This is the Tactical with the same stock, my set up looks almost like this, light mount is different.

Making a shotgun or AR look cool only adds weight. I laugh when I see shotguns with awkward slings that hold extra rounds in addition to the sidesaddle.

Get an extension tube, a sling, a light and a sidesaddle carrier and call it good.

I rly want a 1301 like Bill Blowers'. Keep it simple. Shotguns are heavy af and will tear your hands up. Get training from the best you can afford and then practice with your gun...enjoy the experience. Pattern diff types of ammo to rly get an idea of the variables

If you want to go all-out, try an Aridus CROM mount.

Put a simple 2 point sling on it and goto Front Sight and learn how to shoot it.

After you get back you can mod he gun to what you think you want. Then you can change it around to what you actually think you need need, then you can change it to what actually works.

As far as sights go, You really should have gotten one with the sights already installed. But,,, I believe that your receiver is already D&T'd for attachment of the Pic Rail with the LPA Rear Sight. I also believe there is a clamp on Front Sight available from Brownell's that will easily attach to your barrel.

Thanks guys for all the info.... much appreciated. For now, I've decided to keep in simple and ordered the Olight Pro Valkeryie light & the Nordic +3 Extension. Will decide on the rest of the setup after I put some rounds thru it, as suggested by you guys.

I've been shooting mine since it was called a 1201FP!
Cycling issues were discovered when the SG had too much front weight added and lighter loads used. The most popular mod then was adding a Surefire front stock with integrated white light. It messed with the gas cycling system by dampening it, particularly lighter loads.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does anyone here know about beretta 1301 competition version (21”/24”) falling under “922R compliance” if you add an extended magazine tube (Nordic/Taccom/Lancer/etc)? Anyone here have experience with this?
