Because the tubular magazines can be removed without disassembling the firearm's action, it no longer meet's CA definition of a fixed magazine and are considered assault weapons. [PC 30515(a)(7)]

I have the standard version... but I checked out the CA version on their site - you should too.

Before 2017, this met CA's defintion of a fixed magazine, making it CA legal.
After 2016, this meets CA's new definition of a detachable magazine and no longer meets CA's new definition of a fixed magazine, making it CA illegal.

I'll have to search ... I'm pretty damn sure I didnt dream it. Might be something I'd dream up if I still lived there - but I'm positive I saw the thing on their site, or one of their vids... I'll try to find it.
I can't find the vid I've seen - but I did just look at the pdf attachment on SRM's site... here's their quote:
models M1216CAB and M1216CAF have a fixed magazine
      and to load:
      M1216CAB and M1216CAF Loading Procedure
      1. Flip the loading port cover downward and rotate the magazine to align a tube with the port opening. 2. Repeat this process for each tube.
      3. Close the loading port cover
      .
The current version doesn't require mag to be removed (even with a tool), it requires a "port door" to be opened and mag tube fed from there, while attached to gun. The pdf can be found by clicking the "see all features" link under the CA compliant version: https://www.srmarms.com/shotguns

I'd call them to inquire if you're interested in getting one - its a great gun... I called them to inquire about what gen I had, they were very helpful... I'm sure they'd be willing to answer questions about the CA version.
