    AFAIK...

As part of their reorganization, they are dropping variants that have low sales and consolidating to only their higher selling variants.

Not an offshoot, per se. My understanding is when Remington laid off a bunch of Bushy people, they got together and formed Windham.

The Bushmaster deal was mostly just a brand buyout? Maybe some technical expertise and a few executives? What about the Bushmaster machinery?

Way back when(early 90's), when there were only a few sellers of stripped lowers, I went to a gun show where a lot of them were being sold. There were basically 3 brands at the top, Colt, Bushmaster, and Armalite. I was able to look at all 3 and compare directly. Colt was the best looking, Bushmaster was very close to Colt, and Armalite was way back in third. I had a Bushmaster (since stolen) that was made before they were called Bushmaster. They were called Quality Parts at the time. It ran like clockwork.

When Bushmaster sold to the Remington people, the owner signed a "No Compete" clause (5 years). 5 years later, Remington decided to move the production of the Bushmaster line to New York, thus closing the original Bushmaster factory. With the "No Compete" clause expiring, the original owner decided to re-start operations at the original location with most of the same people. Windham Weaponry is what was the original Bushmaster was.

When the people who bought Bushmaster in 2006 decided to move it “lock, stock and barrel” out of Maine to New York in 2011, the original Bushmaster owner, Mr. Richard Dyke was left with both a dilemma and an opportunity. Almost to the day of the 2011 move, Mr. Dyke’s non-compete clause expired. He still owned the property where Bushmaster had been built, and knew all the workers – now laid off – who had helped him build it. He made a decision to “get back in the game” and promptly put an email out to many of his former employees and friends asking if there was interest in joining him for a new project.

With a resounding “yes” of support, he gathered the financing in two days, and started bringing people back into their long-time Windham manufacturing home. Phoenix-like, Windham Weaponry was on the rise. Within three months, the first productions models of the new Windham Weaponry line had been perfected and delivered. Quality, fit, finish, durability, accuracy and value were all superb – giving credence to Windham Weaponry’s motto “The Quality Goes In, Before The Rifle Goes Out”.

Mine were early 2nd gen mags and the problem is the followers.

All they had to do is send me 5 new followers but they said they had nothing but complete mags, adn wouldn't send them to CA.

This was Remington CS and they were useless.

I never saw a personal need for the DM, but it seemed like a nifty idea. It is sort of like sticking with pump HD/SDshotguns when there are several really good semi-auto options out there.

Besides the obvious $$ difference, a lot of people (ex: me) are just hardwired for pump shotguns. I still see my beloved 870P and old Police Trade in Wingmaster as fearsome weapons, especially in skilled hands. Thunking shells into them from a carrier or spill pouch while continuing to move, shoot, and keep eyes and muzzle on target becomes very natural.

Just read through the post and was very amused with bubba stating that he found my claim unbelievable. Thanks for the laugh bubba but if I post anything about Remington Shotguns it is a fact.

Here is how this happens. If any Product does not sell a set amount in a set number of consecutive quarters it is discontinued. That is pretty much a standard practice in Manufacturing and not just a Remington thing. That happened with the Walnut Police stocks years back and when Remington brought them back they had to find another vendor and price more then doubled. So I am only guessing here that if they do bring the DM mags back they will cost more. They were MSRP of $37.99 for either a 6rd or a 3rd. So we will see what they do.

Well here we are 3 months later and the DM is still being made. Just not your particular model aippi. I called Remington to confirm that fact. While you are correct to say that SKU has been discontinued, yiu are incorrect in stating the DM overall is being discontinued. Maybe some critical thinking might help prevent the spread of fud in the future.

Interesting, I called and Remington and they won't say if they will ever have magazines again.

I had a feeling it was just that one sku.

I should have been more specific when I emailed them about which models are being disc'od. But in their reply they only mentioned the one.

                        Odd about that.

Perhaps the other DM 870's days are numbered as well.

Lead launcher let’s hope they keep the DM. It’s really a simple gun. Strips rounds like a pistol rather than use an elevator.

But Remington is in trouble once again, highly leveraged and poorly managed. What was once a great company is a disaster.

I see no need for a magazine-fed 870. Especially one that cannot hold more rounds than the tube fed one. If you want something like that get a Saiga.

Yes,all the reviews I could find have been positive. Unlike the bad reviews for the regular express models of recent vintage(including my negative experience with the express models).

It seemed that perhaps the DM's were put together better. Unsure,as never have had an 870 DM in my hands.

It’s very solid. A magazine can be reloaded quickly unlike a tubular magazine. Saigas and veprs are assault weapons. So they aren’t really the answer for most people now.

I got a dm for $220.00 from turners. They’re solid. It’s a trunk gun for me.
