cutting off rear collaspable stock
speaking of saiga's, i have one i want to put a pistol grip on. the only company i can find that makes one is tapco, but it comes with a collaspable stock. together with the pistol grip, that makes the gun non california compliant. is there any reason i can't just just cut off the stock, leaving just the pistol grip? the gun is still 30 inches long. it results in what i would consider a more "objectionable" weapon in the eyes of law enforecement, but it seems to satisy california law. thoughts anyone? thank you.Comment

On Saiga-12.com I've seen a pistol grip bolted on to the original stock. That would be the easiest solution.
There are "thumb-hole" type stocks that are very close to a PG.
The best solution would be a fixed stock AK conversion moving the FCG forward to the original location. That would probably require a different magazine lock but if it's done right it will add value to your Saiga and be 922(r) compliant.
I will be going the conversion route after I have confirmed that mine is running well.Comment
