I'll tell you what, ask here if these guys think a gun that shoots 40/60 fits you, and let's see what they think, ok?

You ask a question, then debate the answer. You should take up trap shooting.

I've never heard ANY serious shotgun shooter talk about "sight picture". If you already know the answer, why ask the question?

Seems you need to raise the comb so the gun shoots where you're looking. That's the goal of any shotgun and truly what "fit" means.

Before that, check the other barrel. 15 yards you most likely haven't reached convergence.

And how's your pattern size vs your other guns at 15 yards? Maybe you're catching them on the edge of a larger pattern. Lot of fixed choked guns from yesteryear shoot pretty tight.

And at 15 yards, just point the gun at the target.

That's exactly what I did and I missed them 4 times in a row yesterday. So today I went back and shot above them and smacked them every time.

It appeared that way, but it's probably 50/50. I am a new shooter as you know and I was saying sight picture. If fit as you look down the barrel is correct, then I will use that language for the future. The bottom line is, this particular gun shoots low at short distances and the fit is the same for all the guns I use. The question is: Should I change the fit for this gun, OR should I change my point of aim with this gun at these short distances?

I don't know at 15 yards. It's around 30 inches at 25 yards with the IC. And the other gun that I checked was the same at 25 yards using an IC.

                  In bold.

Everything "fits", but doesn't shoot where I'm looking.

I guess I'm confused at it works for any bird beyond 25 yards as long as I do my part. It just confused me yesterday when presented with a really close target that I couldn't 'float' the bird like I normally would.

This is an exercise in futility, but I'll play along. Do you shoot most of your targets inside 15 yards, or outside?

A bigger percentage farther than 25 yards. So for the most part it's not an issue. But it raised the question as I couldn't believe I would miss a target inside 15 yards 4 times in a row. LOL

                          Try the other barrel.

Try your other guns at 15 yards.

And think about what "floating" the bird (above the barrel) at short range means to the barrel.

Did you actually pattern your guns at 25 yards? 30" seems a bit too "book".

I brought both guns today to the station and shot the bird the way I usually would which is 'floating' the bird over the barrel. The Benelli smacked the birds. The Perazzi missed. Then I raised the point of aim with the Perazzi to cover the bird completely and smacked the birds. I did this with 30 shells to make sure there was consistency.

Then I shot another target that was at least 30 yards out. I pointed the same way with both guns and smacked the birds with both guns. That target was a teal going straight up that peaked probably 30 yards or more.

And I ONLY shot with the IC barrel on the Perazzi. The Benelli had an IC choke installed.

When I patterned both guns, they basically measured 30 inches with both of them.

Your gun should shoot where you are looking. If you are missing targets at fifteen yards, you are shooting at the target, the target is always moving. You need to shoot on the left or right side of the target. There is always an edge.

Yes. I understand the leads. This target didn't require a lead hardly at all. It was so close I would smack them without hardly any lead whatsoever. But vertical lead was an issue with the Perazzi. I had to 'cover' the bird in order to smack it with the Perazzi as opposed to the Benelli. I could 'float' the bird with the Benelli.
