Silver Eagle 12 Ga Semi

New to trap/sheet. Interested in a starter semi to have fun and learn the game. The Turkish made Silver Eagle 17 looks interesting. Any ideas on this from the experienced shooters? The old pump just isn't much fun on those 2nd shots.

Don't know much about them, But I hear the tristar semi's are good and get really good reviews, Myself I have a cz 712g, Have about 4000 rounds thru it no hiccups and really love the way it shoots. Both are lower budget guns.

It's a shotgun imported by TR imports. Doesn't seem to get a lot of good reviews.

I think you're referring to Henry's "Silver Engraved Edition" lever rifle. So yeah, I can see what you were thinking. The SE 17 is indeed a shotgun as whutsup40 mentions.

Yeah, the reviews I've found were a 50-50 mix. Agree with JagerDog; A bit more $$, but, the Weatherby would be a way better option.

Classic Gun Buyer Conundrum

The classic choice:
Spend a bit more -- and if I enjoy it, as I expect, be better off in the long run.
Pay $316 for the TR Import SE17 (made by Turkish Kral Company) and have fewer dollars in the gun safe if I don't use it much.

I would avoid any Turkish semi auto. I had one before (I forget the brand), but I had a lot of failure to extracts. That thing was a jam'o'matic unless it was absolutely spotless clean. After one box of shells, it would start having problems. It sucked dove hunting, because it ripped the head off the shells, and I had trouble getting the shell bodies out of the chamber in the field. I tried everything to get that thing running properly, but where to get spare parts?

I personally would suggest nothing less than a CZ as an entry level shotgun. Buy once, cry once.

I ended up selling off my crappy semi auto for $75.00.

If you buy a Yugo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugo), it will always be a Yugo - something that nobody wants.

Look in the CG Marketplace and by something with a know reputation and you'll be happy.

You probably can't go wrong with these:
Remington 1100 or 11-87
Weatherby SA-08
Beretta A300
Mossberg (don't know their mode numbers too well).

I'd stick with your current pump, before I'd buy that Silver Eagle.
If you're not having fun with the 2nd shot using the pump, I'd say you haven't shot it enough. Hitting doubles on the skeet field with a pump is really fun. It just takes some time to learn it.
