    Mossberg JM pro 930 problem

after 50-100 rounds of mix use ammo from birdshot, 00 buck and slugs. I have a problem with the shotgun. I cannot put the shotgun into Safe, nor can i depress the trigger. So i took it home after the range, I cleaned every part of it, except the Safety. Due to the safety having a special screw which i don't have a tool for. Has anyone had this issue? I already e-mailed Mossberg and waiting for a reply.

Make sure your gun is empty, dissemble your shotgun remove the trigger pins, then the trigger pack. You should now be able to cycle your safety. If your safety still binds up it's more than likely the ball bearing has become dislodged from the baring plate. If this is your problem I would highly recommend installing an aluminum extended/tactical safety for a mossberg 500/590 they're all the same. Just be aware that you may have to drill the ball bearing detents on the new safety for a more positive on or off. One of the problems that plagued some Mossberg pump guns was the safeties was the detents where not deep enough so they'd engage when running the pump handle fast/hard. Also the safety screw can be removed by using a small flat head screw driver that fits on the little nubs. It can be reused but I always replace mine with a allen head screw from Home Depot. Some filing maybe be needed if it sticks up to high and bothers you.

You can remove the special security screw on the safety with a thin towel and a regular Phillips screwdriver.

Promag makes one but the detent holes need to be drilled a little deeper or NDZ Performance makes a similar one. Both can be found on Amazon for 17.00
