With 14 rounds of 3" shells with 00 buck you get 126 pellets the same size and speed as a 40 sw bullet, all tucked into a nice 10" pattern at 25 yards. We are talking immediate destruction to the human body with even one shell, let alone 4.

Shotguns are superior to pistols except in concealment.

In the event of a break in its best to dial 911 and than hunker down in ambush. Make sure you watch your shooting lane and wait quietly. Yiu have no obligation to disclose you are home waiting to be murdered. What better weapon than a shotgun to defend yourself in a low light high stress environment.

It's even better to hide behind a 36" x 48" plate of ar500 in case the perp commences shooting into the dark.

    Happy hunting.
I love America for the rights and freedoms we used to have.

      2 pellets

Aguila mini buckshot has a payload of (7)- 4 buck and (4) - 1 buck at 1200 fps and has 892 ft lbs of energy. Payload weight is 279 grains.

Aguila mini slugs sends a 7/8 oz slug at 1250 fps and has 1222 ft lbs of energy.

Federal mini buckshot has a payload of (15) - 4 buck at 1200 fps and has 991 ft lbs of energy. Payload weight of 310 grains.

Federal mini slugs sends a 1oz slug at 1200 fps and has 1398 ft lbs of energy.

Their ballistics appear to be more than practical for HD and out outclass most handgun an even some rifle calibers.

Same here. I just ordered some of the federal minis and have little doubt they will function fine also.

2 pellets of 00 buck, your giving ballistics of 1 and 4 buck. Plus your info on Aguila vs. Federal probe my point. The 2 3/4 shells have better ballistics with about twice the pellet count. The only advantage I see with the mini is if there are multiple assailants. But you may need to pump a few minis in the first BG. So not mush of an advantage

Sure 2 3/4 shells offers a ballistic advantage as compared to minis. But that does not mean anything with lesser ballistics is not still practical for HD. A 44 mag is ballistically superior to a 357 mag but I think the consensus would be the 357 is a more practical and still a plenty effective defensive cartridge. Besides enhanced magazine capacity, minis also offer significantly less recoil and blast which directly aids in faster follow up shots.

Also theres nothing wrong with 4B or 1B for HD. In fact many (myself included) consider them more ideal for HD since both will penetrate adequately and typically have better patterning when compared to the same shell in 00B. But if only 00B will do Nobelsport sells a mini buck shell. (6) 00 buck at 1250 fps and a pathetic 1249 ft lbs of energy. Aguila or federal doesn't sell 00B minis but if they did they would likely hold at least 4 pellets. I dont know why you keep saying 2.

If minis aren't "practical" for HD then does that mean that defensive handgun calibers like 9mm, .40, .45, 10mm, .357 also aren't practical for HD or defensive purposes? Every mini shell made packs significantly more energy (by 2x to 3x) than every one of the above mentioned.
