    Damn, that was fun

The first time I went trap shooting I had to borrow a Merkel side by side because my barrel was too short.

I know, what a hardship, borrowing a Merkel...

But I didn't do very well.

On Saturday I went to the Los Altos Rod and Gun club which has no restriction on barrel length so I used my 22" Remington 1100 for the first time.

Much, much better. I started off by hitting 4 of my first 5 clays and continued shooting about 80% until my arms started to get tired when I was running out of ammo.

A friend of mine though the pattern must have been quite wide but I haven't checked.

I will be going back regularly.

I went out for the first time about a week ago and loved it. Picked up a BPS and are planning on heading out there soon!

Same exact thing happened with my wife. Took her out once and next thing I know she wants her own shotgun. Just got her a BPS.

My favorite part of shooting trap is out-shooting all those guys that show up with the blinders, fancy vests and $2k+ guns with my beat up $300 Remington 870! Now that's priceless!! Most addictive either way though. Give 5 stand a shot sometime if you want to mix it up.

The 870 and the Model 12 are the winningness guns in trapshooting, you don't need a Perazzi. Just have fun.

I started with Trap and liked it, but now I love SKEET, and it helped my trap game too!

I just recently, as in the last 2-3 months have gotten into trap shooting and I have to agree, it's pretty damn fun. Fairly inexpensive as far as shooing goes too.

I just went to Big 5 and bought 10 boxes of Winchester Super X #7 1/2.

Next time I won't run out of ammo...

Be sure to check the choke tube on your 1100. I was shooting trap with my BPS and was really sketchy until I remembered that I need the full choke. Dooh! Now the clays are breaking with greater regularity.

If you really want to irritate them try shooting from the hip...I've done that with my 590 at APTS. They laughed until I hit the first clay that was launched....
