One thing I noticed is the Interstate 982 I picked up has an improved cylinder barrel. The older Norinico/IAC 98, 981, and 982 (PP too?) all had cylinder bore barrels listed on the specifications.

I wonder if this in an upgrade or if all the 870 copies came with improved cylinder barrels?

        Chunky_lover:

        Good picture!

Can you believe before I did a writeup on these shotguns a few years ago and posted it on several forums, everyone was calling them junk. They are far from it.

I have had a few of the sales reps from VLTOR Stocks email me about getting a tube extension for their 982. The 982 has become quite popular now.

Well I only have about 2 dozen shots through mine, so I cant comment yet on how they will hold up, but they seem pretty tough and feel solid. Its replaced my mossberg 500 as the go to home defense.

You should pick up a Saiga 12 also while they are easy to get right now. I own one now and it's an excellent shotgun. I like mine even though it hasn't been converted yet.

I've got one of these shotguns. Very inexpensive and they shoot well. The barrel is not interchangeable with an 870. Magazine extension tubes are compatible. For $200 you could do a lot worse.

Glad to know this gun has good reviews. Haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet but looking forward to it. It was a birthday present from my wife. Gotta love a woman like her.

Does anybody know if they make barrels that are interchangeable with this shotgun?

I went to their website: http://www.iacshotguns.com/982pump.html and it says that it's 12GA 3" chamber.

Can I feed it with regular 2 3/4" too? Sorry for a stupid question, but I'm a noob for this shotgun thing & want to purchase my first one soon. Thanks.

you can feed 2.75" shells and 3" shells but not 3.5" shells.

Chunky lover, I like the heat shield that you put it on yours. May I know how much does it cost?

It shoots awesome, takes whatever I feed it. My buddy has a Benelli Nova and after a side by side range comparison, the 870 clone feels more solid and fed more smoothly than the Italian made shotgun. Great pick up!
Seen and shot the norinco clone and it was a great gun. Nothing special but loved the sights for what they were worth for shooting slugs I guess. Great little piece and would say its home defense worthy.

^How can we get a barrel for our 982 shotgun? Dont we have to send our gun to H&R and they will fit them?
