    New 870 Clone

I just got this from my gunsmith. It's basically a Remington 870 clone but made in China (what isn't now days?) Called a Hawk model 982. I just wanted an inexpensive HD shotgun. Came with Ghost sites and soft padded but plate as seen. Total out the door for $200.75 new in box. He bought one for his son and was quite impressed with it. All 870 parts are interchangable but I think I'll keep it as is for now. Anyone else heard of these? What's your opinion? Will try to get out to shoot it this weekend and test the patterning on it.

Yep, do a search -- it's much discussed here. I own one, and love it.

Great gun! I have the Big 5 version called the Interstate. Shoots fine and a solid weapon.

Oh, it's the Interstate. I was about to say...another different clone?!

I have the exact same shotugn but with the Norinco stamping on it and I have a picatinny fore end. I'm picking up a side saddle for it in the next couple weeks. It shoots awesome, takes whatever I feed it. My buddy has a Benelli Nova and after a side by side range comparison, the 870 clone feels more solid and fed more smoothly than the Italian made shotgun. Great pick up!

Own one myself. Use the search and you'll find two big threads regarding the Norinco/IAC/Hawk 982/870 shotgun. One thread is just a big debate about American vs Chinese and the other is what people think about this shotgun and what mods/tricks that can be done to it.

Does that include DROS fee? That's a good price, I just bought one at Big 5 the OTD price was close to $250 with tax and DROS fee.

Do the ones at Big 5 have ghost ring sights? The last time I checked them out they were under the interstate name with a bead sight.

                      IAC Hawk 982 - GRS

IAC Hawk 981 - Bead sight

Not as many of the 981 shotguns are imported because they don't sale as well.

If Big 5 has the Interstate Hawk 982 in stock, then it has the GRS on it. I bought mine about a month ago and they only had one left in stock during the sale($199). I have not seen any other Interstate brand models other than the 982 at the Big 5 in Pinole.

Max100, you seem to be the resident guru of the 870 clone. Do you still sell the clone extensions from the old thread? I was also wondering if you still sell extensions for the Howa Escort pump shotgun. I know you did some work for a company who makes breaching barrels for the Escorts.

I don't offer a tube ext for the Escort pump.

These are the shotguns I offer extensions for:

                              590A1 18.5" bbl
                              Moss 835
                              500 Tactical breacher
                              Hawk 982 & Pardner Pump
870 18.5" bbl 7+1 cap even with the muzzle
                              H&R Excell A5 shotguns
