Need Ideas On a Good Tactical Shotgun

I will be looking for a good shotgun soon. I would be using it for home defense and well as tactical purposes. I would like input on what brand to look at. I want to modify it with all the goodies. Reminton, Mossberg, Winchester? where would be a good start for me? This will be my first shotgun and I am not looking for something to shoot small furry creatures with, just defensive/offensive purposes!!

A 870 is popular as are Mossberg 500's. Im partial to 870's myself but assure you that a 930spx is destined to be under my bed, not my safe, in the future.

Doh, nevermind, after wacthing 20/20 in Friday, ill just call the Police, thats the right thing to do afterall. Its safer that way, owning a gun is unsafe.

I have a Remington 870 'home defense' model with a 18 inch barrel and extended mag tube. I added a Knoxx Spec-ops telescopic stock, barrel heat shield, and a quad-rail with a forward pistol grip and light. I haven't fired it since I installed the stock, but it should take up some of the recoil.
Peace demands solutions, but we never reach living solutions; we only work toward them. A fixed solution is, by definition, a dead solution. The trouble with peace is that it tends to punish mistakes instead of rewarding brilliance.

Hard to go wrong with either an 870 or Mossy 500/590, try em out at a local range and see what you like. I am happy with a low budget 870 express model#26503, 20" barrel and 7 round mag, that a local gunshop had on sale for $299 recently.

If money is no object, check out a Benelli semi-auto. If I hadn't experienced it myself, I'd not believe how quick and smooth a Benelli M1 shoots. Or this budget version of the Benelli from Stoeger looks good... http://www.stoegerindustries.com/fir...er_defense.php

Don't Rule out a S12.... 10 rounds of semi auto 12 gauge in a compact package

they're kinda pricey right now, but they're still well worth it IMHO

How about a double barreled stagecoach gun w/ 00 buck? That'll leave a mark.

An 18" 870 or Benelli M2 M4 without clamping on a bunch of crap that you seem predisposed to do.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

So pistol grips and froward grips are legal in cali? I am not sure about clamping a bunch of crap onto my future shotgun, I just want something that is good for a tactical environment not a critter hunting gun.

Whats the shortest barrel length allowed by the commiefornia law?

Wow, the Benelli M4 is awsome, very pricey though.

For the $$$, I don't think you can go wrong with a Mossberg. I've seen this one on sale at Big 5 in the Bay Area for as low as $259 in the last month. There are plenty of accessories available to make it 'tactical' to your choosing.

Check their weekly flyer and they will always have some flavor Mossy or Remington on sale.
