I may just go this route, it will work just fine. I used these before in class and was successful.

Specter Gear Belt Mounted 6 rd. Shotshell Carrier - Fits 1.75' Pants Belts. Made in USA by CCS Industries.

That works well if you can get by with six rounds... That's about the best I've found. I don't like the three gun stuff and I've never found an enclosed pouch that wasn't awkward. There are some decent breaching pouches where the shells are stacked horizontally, but those require a chest rig or something. Dump pouch is okay for maybe 20 rounds, but hard to keep both secure and accessible. The aesthetics are obviously wrong in anything high speed, but the bird hunting and trap vests do work well haha.

        Ah shotguns...

Since the vest worked, I was thinking a belt would be just as good and during reload drills that exceed side saddle capacity.
I will look into this a bit.
That's a very different venue. I don't know what works well for that.

Here's something (style) I like for range or quail:

I have had a couple of the neoprene, I always seem to lose about as many shells as I shoot....no experience with the leather.

I use an old Army surplus shirt. The kind with the 4 large pockets in the front. Load the pockets and head out. If I empty the pockets and the bag isn't full enough by then I'm doing it wrong.

I went with a Vickers Blue Force sling, that holds 25 shells. Didn't wanna sacrifice a battle belt for a shotgun belt.

I have a leather shotshell ammo belt just like OP posted. Gifted to me 20 yr or so ago. Never used it.

I prefer belted game bags for upland hunting. Especially if much walking is required.

Me no like vests for hunting. Chaff shoulders in hot weather. A box or two of 12 ga hanging on shoulders is no bueno.

And the vinyl lined game bag on your back all day long is hot nasty sweaty as he**.

Spent 4 decades working with tool belts snugly around hips. Works same for hunting or range.

For skeet. I use range bag like this.

I like the waist belt when I'm not getting too far from the vehicle. But do this style when I'm gonna be hoofing for hours.

That's mine but they don't make it anymore. Some similar ones out there. hydration pack, place to stow the thermal/gloves when it warms up. bug spray, TP, first aid kit, water for dog, e-collar controller, etc.

I do two shell pouches on a dedicated belt at the range. One for shells, one for empties.

I'm sitting here at my desk... with a sheet of Blue Force Gear stickers beneath the computer monitor... & I know I BOUGHT this sling recently... but now I can't remember from WHO.

Wellll... it's a NICE sling anyways - HK clip hooks - and it keeps the shells in reach, and my belt free!
