Ok, thanks. My question still stands. How tight do they grip compared to others that can flex? Or are they not the same diameter hole as at th etop and bottom ?

                  Mesa is the best

I have about 2500 rounds thru my m4 - not one shell has fallen out of the shell holder.

They are expensive, but like everyhting in life, you get what you pay for....

They are indeed much better than Tac Star. No comparison. If you want the highest quality, this is it.

I have the Tacstar plastic ones on all my shotguns; they are economical and work perfectly. They have maintained their retention force on the shells over many years without fail; I've never had a shell drop and some of my carriers have been continuously loaded for up to 9 years. I think many possess little knowledge of material properties and automatically assume aluminum is somehow a "higher quality" material than "plastic". I guess all of those "plastic framed" (HK, Sig, Glock Springfield, Walther, S&W, etc. etc.) handguns are of lower quality than aluminum or steel framed guns?

Got mine from the Brownells and it works just fine for me.

They (the plastic ones) have a metal backer plate that the mounting bolts screw into. They work great.

Bought one form a guy at the gun show in Del Mar for around 15.00 bucks, I think. They were a lot cheaper than on line, and he had many of them.

How do the nylon ones compare? http://www.dillonprecision.com/content/p/8/brid/83

It sounds like the Mesa Tacs are the best, but as a economical option, would you guys go nylon or the Tacstar?

I have a 6-shot mesa on my M4. Works great. Smooth as butter. My only gripe is that it makes an already heavy gun heavier...at this point I'm considering looking for one of those strap-to-stock shell holders instead...>_<
