    Aguila 12GA. 1 3/4" MINISHELLS

    1. Which shotguns work best with minishells?

    2. Anyone have experience using minishells with Remington 870?

    3. What steps, including modification, can be used to prevent problems connected with minishells?

    Kel-Tec

Do they work well in a Kel-Tec KSG?

I've used them in my Hatsan Escort semi auto without any issue.

By the way, Ammo Bros. currently has them a little cheaper than normal

I have recently cycled a box of these in my 870 based AOW. I had some minor issues feeding, but not ejecting the mini shells. I was able to fit a total of four plus one in the chamber (with 2.75 shells I can fit two plus one), and had the most reliability with them when I tilted the weapon towards the left while shucking a new round in. If doing the weird lean, they fed fine.

The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

870 has been my "go to" but I have wandered elsewhere. My concern with the 870 and your comment is that, under pressure, I might inadvertently fail to left lean the shotgun. In such a situation I need to eliminate every potential issue I can. At this point I think I'll check out the semi-auto mentioned above.

WOW. Just occurred to me -- how pathetic. I'm thinking about buying a weapon just to match the ammo!!!

That ain't pathetic....I'd call that a brilliant excuse to buy another shotgun.

Mini-shells work very well in a KSG, and are a reasonable choice for CQHD, IMO.

The capacity in a KSG, when loading both tubes with mini's, is excellent.

Mini shells should not be used for anything but range plinking... They will get you killed, they work all the time until they don't... mini shells have this gnarly malfunction where they leave the magazine tube, do a 180 flip and try and feed brass first. If you are lucky, the only malfunction you will see is where they will get stuck where the bolt and barrel lug mate. Like I said, they work all the time until they don't...

Anyone have this problem when using the Mossberg rubber insert? This is just one comment, but it's making me re-think the whole idea. And that sucks ... those little suckers were expensive!

They run in 500/590s with the insert. I haven't been able to group the slugs well, buckshots probably ok.

There is a company that makes an adapter in the lifter/chamber area that I think takes up the extra space to help feed the mini shells more reliably.
I think it was for KSG's, not sure if they made one for other pump guns.

EDIT: Found it! Called the OPSol Texas Mini-Clip Mossberg 500/590/Maverick 88 Polymer

There's probably multiple reasons why they haven't been adopted by many (any?) for HD. Have fun and shoot them up. Then by some real defensive ammo.
