    Vepr 12 - Assembly Trouble

I need help with suggestion on how to untangle the little mess that I made. My first time putting it (AK pattern rifle) back really. It seems that I put the slide/bolt a little crooked and it is stuck. I know that AK is made with loose tolerant but I resist the urge to just hammer it back out. As you see in the images that it is canted to the left but I am afraid that I could damage the slot that it rides on beyond repair (can't replace it now). Probably a silly question but any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried to mortar it kinda like an AR?

      Lightly tap it back out.

Bang it out, mortar style or with a mallet. Shouldn’t take much.

Lightly tap it - doesn't seem to work.

I tried mortar but no very hard. I was afraid that the rail on the side may be damage but I could bang it out if this is what Vepr 12 required and can take it. Thanks.

My bolt carrier got stuck once too. I lifted the rifle up and slammed it onto the counter, buttstock first, with my thumb wrapped around the charging handle. The carrier came loose in one go

I know you said you don't want to do that, but your rifle will still be just as fine if you did. Otherwise, I'd suggest smacking the charging handle back with a rubber mallet a few times.

It’s an AK, OP. A few whacks with a dead blow or rubber mallet or mortaring it won’t damage the rails or the carrier.

Maulerrr, toiletfighter, thanks. I'll give it a try. Never really work with an AK but if it can be handle very roughly then I shall.

If It gives you peace of mind.... Remember your Vepr is built heavier and thicker than a regular AK. You've got the RPK receiver and trunnion. Now go bang it on something. Nicks, scruffs, and scratches build character for that baby

Nicks, scruffs, and scratches ... I don't keep my rifles wrapped up and all of them are scratched and scruffed in the safe. As long as they go bang safely, I am content. Lunch break...I will mortar the crap out of it.

I was able to mortar really really hard and the whole carrier flop out. Thanks all!

Thanks. Still looking for decently priced #4 for HD.

So you aren't particular picky about what you pick for HD round at all?
