Honestly there will be a time when you don't have to remember the leads shooting skeet. Your subconscious mind will calculate those fixed leads as the subconscious mind works 1000 times faster than your conscious mind. All you have to do is calculate your plan, go brain-dead, and hard focus on the bird, swing to the shot, allow the finger to take the shot, then follow thru.

When you allow your mind to apply skeet leads to sporting clays you need to focus hard on the clay to allow the subconscious to calculate speed, distance, and trajectory. At least I am trying to convince myself that is how it works. Then I play with chokes and shot loads for and added edge. Does not always work. Someday.
    Definitely a challenge, but fun.

Terry, honestly, I think you are a better shooter than I am, but the scores don't show that.

I think you let all that minutia about chokes and shells get into your head. In other words, you think to much...Don't do that!
At M-N-M, IC/MOD, MOD/MOD or MOD/IMOD will work just fine on any target there. I stick two chokes in my gun and leave the rest in the car and I bring 1 load. This leaves nothing to think about except the plan and focus on the target.

                Too funny.

Since this is sporting clays and not traditional trap shooting, are there many folks who run what they brung? I have an 1100 that wears an 18,5" bead sight barrel. It'd be neat to learn to swing it although I'm not a great wing shooter having a cross-dominant eye...

Or is my post stuffed full of fail?

I am working on it. The skeet chokes were an experiment. I might go IC or skeet 2 and improved modified next time. But the skeet shot worked well in spite of the skeet chokes, so I may consolidate to #8 for nears, and #7.5 for fars. Opps, thinking again.

                      Thanks Bob.

If I want to shoot sporting clays, I'll slip the original barrel on that 1100. It is presently in a "Texas tactical" configuration.

                      Appreciate the reply.
