As to forcing cones and back boring barrels, your better off with the Airzona beach front property on the Pacific Ocean. At least there is a looooooong view.

I gots me a twelve gauge with long forcing cones, back bored, and custom chokes all done by Seminole. Can I tell the difference? Only when drunk or when I look at my wallet.

Here is the answer from the Old School Instructors at Remington. That was done back in the old days on fowling pieces to allow the small shot to stack as it comes down the barrel. Remington does not do it to their barrels because modern waddings negates the need. If it serve a purpose Remington would do it and of course charge more for their barrels.

How much do they charge to thread the barrel for chokes (i didn't see any pricing on their website)?

Briley is the maker of the best aftermarket choke tubes out there. They are also well known for threading barrels on Hi Dollar guns for those choke tubes.

If guy is willing to have his $20,000 shotgun modified for interchangeable choke tubes,,, he would definitely want someone who'd get it right the first time.

Briley will get it right the first time, as they have been doing for many many years.

Different from my undertanding which is that "standard" forcing cones were designed to deal with paper/nitro card wads which don't obturate much if any. Moderns wads obturate much more, making long forcing cones suitable. I did say suitable, not neccesarily desirable.

120 to thread them (includes choke set). 160 to cut down the barrels, crown, touch up and fill between the barrels
