I have the affinity (not the affinity 3) and the recoil isn't an issue for me at all. FYI. I also have the A300 and the recoil for me between the two is about the same. I prefer the franchi over the 300 so far as the fit seems more natural for me out of the box. I'm sure I can adjust the 300, but with the inertia feel and overall fit, I prefer the franchi. my $.02

I just jumped up from a Winchester 1300 to the A300, I definitely noticed the recoil is lighter on the 300, I really like it. My first 4 shots with it duck hunting were hits, that made it easy to love. I have no experience with the franchi.

Gas for sure, A300 or Rem V3 in lower price range or maxus and similar for higher range, much better option than any inertia guns IMO.
But as YSR says, one loves blondes and one loves guys, some love both...

If recoil is a consideration, I'd look at the Remington V3 or the Winchester SX3 or SX4. They're gas operated with supposedly very low recoil.

I haven't shot either, but I have an FN SLP which is basically an SX3, and it's smooth and easy when it comes to recoil.

The "gas vs inertia" debate is overrated compared to the past. With all the new recoil pads that come with these new shotguns, the difference is negligible. SX3, Affinity, A300, Versa max, etc, they are all relatively the same. I own them all and can't tell the difference.

I will make the same offer as etwinam in the L.A. area either at Oak Tree or Triple B's. I own an A300, Franchi Affinity, Versamax, M2, Stoeger MK3, Winchester SX3, Rem 11-87 and I will be happy to let you all try them out at the two places I mentioned. If anyone is serious about trying one, PM me and bring money for ammo or bring your own ammo. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure you bring stuff that flys at least 1200FPS or greater and is at least one ounce loads. 1 1/8 is actually preferred. I am new to sporting clays, but I am having a blast (pun intended) and I am happy to let others try out a particular model.

Kickeez buttpad will help with recoil alot on any gun you purchase so don't let recoil be the decision factor.

I have an A300 and I'm in san Diego if you want to shoot it and see what you think. I'm usually at South Bay r&g.

My A300 is an easy to breakdown gun and very light. I have no experience with Affinity though so I can't give any insight.

If recoil is an issue shooting a gas gun, you're not mounting it properly, or take up golf

                    Your choice.

I recently made the move from my Mossberg 500 to the Franchi Affinity and can tell you the Franchi has less recoil than the 500. I've been very pleased with the Franchi as it is very easy to maintain and has been reliable without any issues.

I don't have any experience with the a300 but I'm sure it will hold up just fine. I went with the Franchi since they offer a left handed model

It's not as though I'm recoil sensitive. I've been shooting the 870 for years now.

I just figured that one of the advantages of an auto is reduced recoil so I may as well capitalize on that.

I've shot the affinity a couple times as my dad owns one. It seemed snappier than my 870 but that may have just been because I had been shooting the 870 all day and the ergonomics are a little different.

What do folks think about the Mossberg 930? I see that they're a bit cheaper than the A300 and you can get a pro series waterfowl model for less than the black A300.

I went from a moss 500 to a 930 to an A300. 930 is a solid gun but heavier than the a300 if that matters.

If you're going to start looking at variables instead of deciding between two guns you're going to just need to shoot then all and decide which one fits you best.

Edit: you should probably shoot them first no matter which route you go

Honestly, I've never really noticed reduced recoil inertia vs gas gun. I HAVE noticed how much lighter, quicker and CLEANER inertia guns are over gas guns

Oh, I love the affinity, I wish there was a sub $700 version with home defense barrel set up, don't feel like cutting up a $300 barrel
