Updated, Beretta A300 aftermarket Charging handle

I recently purchased an A300 wood. I love the gun! Great overall fit and finish. The wood is nice and deep colored. The only problem I have is the Charging handle and bolt release are kind of small. I took her out trap shooting this last weekend and had to really get a solid finger on the release to get it to drop. After a few sets of trap I got used to it but still wasn't ideal. I also had to get used to a Brass bead again instead of Fiber optic but that's a whole different conversation. I can get used to the Brass bead, the bolt release and charging handle are kind of a big deal to me.

long story short, Briley keeps coming up when I'm searching for aftermarket bolt handle... but so do a couple reviews about the Briley oversized bolt handle rubbing off the finish of the gun. I don't really baby my guns and I buy them to shoot but I don't want to ruin the finish either. Does anyone have the Briley oversized bolt Handle? Any problems with the finish being rubbed off or worse the metal showing through?

Here is one review, about half way down the page they talk about it:

I would like to add an adjustable buttpad to my son's A300. I can't seem to find anyone online that has tackled a project like this before. I am thinking of trying to install a graco adjustable pad device made for autos. Anybody have done, or know of any posts online of someone else that has...

I plan on getting the bolt release since no negative reviews come up and it should take care of part of the problem. I also may buy the Briley magazine tube cap to add a little weight for balance. The gun seems a tad bit balanced to the rear and the extra weight should help with the swing for trap, which is my primary use for this gun.

Does anyone know of any other aftermarket charging handles that will fit on the A300 and not take the finish off?

Here are some pictures of my new A300, I can't say enough how much I enjoy this gun. I am very happy with the performance of this gun so far. I think the problem is I have a 930 JM pro and the charging handle and release are huge and easy to operate. Maybe I just got used to the JM Pro.

Thanks all and any aftermarket advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't remember seeing any besides the Briley - if it rubs couldn't you just file down the face of it a tad bit... should take much just a couple of thousands

Ya I thought about that, I was hoping there was another solution besides having to grind down the Briley. I guess it is one option if no other bolt handles are available.

Beretta has one for their 1301 that looks nice, it doesn't show compatible with the A300 though.

The 1301 and A300 are compatible with each other. EDIT: Sorry I was thinking the A400. My bad.

I'm using this sight on my A300 and Stoeger M3000. Comes with several screws to fit different manufacturers.

Thanks for the suggestion. How is it for picking up light? I just ordered the truglo starbrite red 2.6mm. I figured I'll try it and see how it works.

Worried about it not getting enough light since it's so small though.

I have an A400 and one day the handle just fell off. After picking it up I could not see any threads or locking mechanism in order to keep it from falling off again. I just pushed it very firmly into the hole in the bolt and so far so good.

If you find a handle for the 300 please post some pics. I may change mine if a newer one fits my A400 and locks in somehow.

Unless you're hunting turkey, take the beads off, and look at the target.

You're way over thinking the charging handle,/bolt release. Briley is fine.

From what I can tell there is a small notch that clicks in to the bolt. It's subtle but there. I'll post some pics when I pull it all apart.

I think I'm just going to just order the bolt release and kick eez pad and go from there.

It would be nice to hear from someone that actually owns an A300 with briley bolt handle to give an observation if possible.

Also, I didn't get any spacers or lop adjustment, cast and drop shims in my A300. Are those included and mine was missing or do I need to purchase those separately? Just curious. I wouldn't mind dropping the stock a bit down to for my shoulder pocket a tad bit.

Thanks again for all the input everyone.

All parts listed here are specific to the 12 gauge Beretta A300 Outlander shotgun unless otherwise noted. MGW carries replacement barrels, forearms, stocks, sights, choke tubes, springs, pins and other parts for this semi-auto model. These factory original and aftermarket parts will ensure that your A300 Outlander shotgun functions flawlessly with every trigger pull.

Spacers and shims should have come with the gun. I like Beretta’s micro core pad (think that’s the name) or a Limbsaver.

While mine is an A400 Xplor in 28 gauge, I bought both, bolt and release button. The bolt does rub along the lower breech opening and now shows bare metal through the light golden/brown receiver for about an inch.
Slightly bummed about it, but its a shooter, not a museum piece.

Thank you. I'll take that into consideration. I bought mine to shoot also. Just have to decide if I really need it like I thought at first. I hate how small the charging handle but I'm not sure I want to wear down my receiver in the process.

I'm doing a sporting clays event on Sunday so I'll find out after 100 Clay's I'm sure.

I emailed Beretta about it and haven't heard back yet. I'll give them a couple days. Thanks for the input. I checked the box to make sure I didn't miss them. Nothing there. Got my chokes at least.
