Why not asks the guy who took the pictures ?

Don’t know what happens to the pictures when they upload they’re very clear on my phone and computer. Markings I can see in the pictures below. Anyone know a way to get my pictures to upload in the quality they are?

      P. Beretta Gardone V. T. Italy
      28 GA. 2 3/4 in 28 inches
      Berben Corporation NY. NY.

The guys very old, sent pictures that were terrible originally and these are the new ones but he doesn't know what it is. He says "its just a beretta model 28 gauge". These pictures are actually really clear, I don't understand why they're shrinking and loosing so much quality when I upload them. I've specifically asked for pictures with the serial and also the bottom of the receiver but I think he can't even hear me on the phone and is to far away to drive to just check it out.

Berben Corp was the U.S. importer prior to Garcia, so that means the gun was was built before about 1968. Pics are crap, but I would guess it's an S56E variant, based on the looks of the engraving. S55 and S56 were generally sold in the European market, but there are a bunch in the U.S. I have a 426E SxS imported by Berben, and the overall look and engraving are very similar. I hesitate to give it an unequivocal thumbs-up without better pics, but if it's a 28ga with 28" barrels and has not been messed with with, you should buy it.

I don’t know what it’s worth that’s what I’m trying to get to with identifying it.

E02937B is the serial if that narrows anything down

                      Found this nugget about Berben:
During a brief interim period, Beretta shotguns were imported by Berben Corportation of New York, NY, which had originally been a partnership between Beretta and Bennett Galef, a former importer of Berettas, but apparently passed to Beretta's sole ownership after Bennett Galef died and importation rights were transferred from Galef & Son to Garcia.
I looked at the pics again, and the wood does not look nice enough for it to be an S57. It has too much engraving to be an S55. And the Berben importer's stamp means it's probably not a Sauer-Beretta.

If you got the serial why don't you give Beretta a ring ?

                        If they don't know

I wouldn't even mind to call Italy !

David sent me the pics, so I got a better look at the gun. Date code on the barrels is "AN," which translates to 1985. That does not seem to make sense because the gun carries Berben stamps, but Beretta USA was formed in 1977, so not likely that Berben was still the importer in 1985. Wood is extremely plain, and fore end does not match the butt stock very well, but Beretta is famous for crappy wood on some of its guns. Butt pad is fugly, and the heel is rounded as if for a low-gun skeet shooter or a hunter who wore heavy clothing. Beretta used brown pads in that era, but that one does not look factory. Owner is right handed, judging by wear on the trigger guard, so there is probably some cast off to the stock. Can't see enough of the trigger to judge how much it's been shot, but bluing looks good and no significant carry wear that I can see. Not a lot of grease and dirt embedded in the checkering, so maybe not hunted in harsh conditions. Choke markings are Full/Mod and barrel is stamped 2-3/4", 28". Gun definitely has ejectors and side ribs. Can't see top lever or bottom of frame, but I'd still guess S56E. I don't have any Blue Books with me, but even an older Blue Book should have a little info on this gun. With the plain wood and funky pad (check LOP because butt was probably cut a little when this pad was installed), my long distance guess on value would be around $1200-$1500. Call Beretta USA and run the serial number by them, but I have heard that their US records only go back to around 1988. Let us know what you find out. Good luck.
