No, I save the "don't buy a cheap double" drivel for the people asking "what cheap O/U should I buy for sporting clays", because they are looking for a double gun for all the wrong reasons.

If I were to look for a cheap double for whatever reason I'd stick to a Savage 311, Stevens 530, or a Lefever Nitro Special; one of the hardware store guns that was built to be used. Not because they are better than the Stoeger or whatever (I've never looked at the Stoegers or other modern cheap double guns), but because they are proven to be good, strong, guns and are often very cheap.

I'm not sure I would trust a Stoeger double gun to shoot a couple rounds of sporting clays every weekend for the next ten years; but that's not what the OP was asking about and not why the OP wanted a double gun.
Ya...I deleted my comment of <$1K when I found he wanted a functioning movie prop.

To be fair, the Stoeger doubles have been a mainstay of cowboy action shooting for a couple decades now...and they've done quite well.

I bought their original coachgun in 2001 to get into SASS, with an intent to find a cool old Stevens as an upgrade. I never got around to the latter bit and the Stoeger never hiccupped. There were plenty of others on the line in the same state.

      It is ugly, though.

Just did a search on Gunbroker.com.

        Double Barrel Shotgun - NEW
        3983 Items Found

Looks like someone still makes them. I am seeing CZ, Browning, Beretta, Stoeger, Franchi, Mossberg, Winchester, and others.

For the most part, they're not inexpensive. So these likely appeal to a very select audience.

            Are these being made anymore?

Most used ones are pricey, are there any entry level double barrels out there?

The Stoeger is available in over/under and side by side (Gunbroker) in 28 gauge. Just in case anyone wants that unusual gauge. Northern Firearms (big red logo) has been selling both on Gunbrokers (they always ship free, no charge).

Lots of nightmare stories about Turkish guns breaking and then never working the same again.

I would avoid the headache of buying any Turkish (mossberg branded) shotgun.

For under 1k, buy a pump.

Over 1k, semi and side by side of o er under are fine

Used to see a lot float around shops, check GB for them though. Absolute tanks and the ejectors would shoot shells surprisingly far LOL

The double barrel will have to wait,
I just scored a Browning Auto 5 made in Belgium.
