Well I sucked it up and bought it yesterday. Mossberg 500 Series in 410 gauge. It's actually pretty nice. The only place that had it was Dick's Sporting Goods. Everybody else was sold out or could only get it as special order. Let me just say that purchasing a firearm at Dick's Sporting Goods was a very different experience. And not in a good way. They have an 11-day waiting period As well.

YA...they just don't want to watch the clock from submittal time to pick-up time. I can understand that.

Only have interest in 410 because it looks cheap to reload. Did not know there was a 1100 in 410. Read there is low recoil 12g ammo. Not sure if I want to add another caliber but 410 is pretty popular and looks to be plentiful in stock.

fond memories of that old gun, so I bought a pair of them for my kids

haven't fired the Stevens tube feeder yet, but I'm sure the kids will enjoy it too.

browse the auctions and you'll find some neat old .410 doubles sxs and o/u..

pumps and autos too..

.410 ammo isn't the cheapest, but very fun and challenging compared to the gauges..

I love my Mossberg 500 in .410, tons of fun to shoot. Picky on shells though, try a few different brands of ammo. I've had luck with AA's, Federal and Remington Gold Medal's. Had lots of problems with Fiochi and Winchester white box. Carry a cleaning rod to clear jammed shells. Also save the hulls on the better quality ammo, reloaders will pay good money for them.

Even though you may have rounded out your collection and have all the gauges covered, there's still no stopping....
Once you have a collection of pump shotguns, then it will be time to try semi-autos, then over/unders, then side by sides....

Get a semi auto 12GA which will shoot a lot softer than any pump 12 Ga.

Problem with Mecs is they are hard to change loads and reset the dies, in my experience.
Lee never made a Load All in 410 and they say they never will.

If you stick to one load for the .410 (which most people do) a MEC reloader works just fine.

I have a semi auto 12 gauge. An inertia driven model. I would say that the recoil is somewhat aggressive. I'm going to take my Stoeger p350 out next weekend and compare the two.

The first shotgun I fired was a .410. I was about 7 years old and it was in the Barton Flats area near Angelus Oaks, Ca. Lots of fun. I was watching my dad and the other men shoot the .12 guage and finally asked if I could shoot "the loud one." Damn near knocked me on my ***!

Having said that, I love to shoot my Mossberg 590 that I bought several years back.

410 handgun defense ammo works perfectly well in a long gun, making it a reasonable protection piece for the recoil-shy. i got a savage m42 22wmr/410 o/u as a trunk gun awhile back. 410 is quite handy.
