    410 mayb

I have a couple of 12 gauge shotguns and I have a 20 gauge shotgun. I'm seriously considering buying a 410 shotgun because when I use the other ones it really is pretty aggressive especially the 12 gauge. I like just shooting fruit and stuff like that with my shotgun and I think this probably would be less wear and tear on my body. I am a bit older. Any thoughts on this, anybody have a 410 that they use a lot?

They are a lot of fun to shoot.

If you get a .410, plan on getting a reloader, because shells are expensive.

$8 or more for a box of Herters, $10.50 or more for AA's....

    If I didn't reload, I'd shoot my .410 a whole lot less.

I scored a Saiga .410 and it is awesome, Shells are very expensive(like twice and above 12 gauge) but serious fun and function!
I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.

        I like my .410, but consider a 28 gauge.

I'm considering a Bond Arms "snake slayer" after we move.
When my Dad passed-away he left me his shotguns. One was a side by side .410. I gave it to one of his step-sons as he had related a story about he and Dad and that shotgun.

.410 is a lot of fun. Kinda like a big pop gun. A lot less recoil than a 20 ga.

Ammo is expensive. $11/box at Walmart. Don't shoot it very often but fun to have. Mine is a single shot bolt action.

              ><

Shot skeet exclusively with a 410 for about 3 years....very fun

Maybe its time to get into reloading......lots of very low recoil loads you can make for the 12 & 20..... reloading 410 will only cost about 3.00 a box

Or just buy some of the very light factory loads loads

Have you tried tuning your 12 & 20 for good fit and balance?

Both are fantastic, and cheap to shoot if you invest in a nice little Mec single stage reloader. I shoot a Mossy 500e (.410) exclusively for hunting Phesant. The gun is lighter than my 12s and 20s and I can get on the birds faster than with my bigger guns. 28 can also be a great bird gun if you can shoot worth a $h!+

Have my Grandmothers bolt action Stevens that she got back in the 30's; tons of fun to shoot. The bolt actions is slow on the second shot though.

As echoed by others, if you plan on shooting it much plan on buying $11 boxes of shells or a reloading station. Reloading .410 costs less than 12 or 20 once you get hulls because wads/primers/shot is all the same cost but you're using a lot less shot and powder.

Nothing better than a Remington 1100 in 410... Except maybe a Browning Citori White Lightning I sold to "someone" here a few years ago.. lol... 1100 410 is my dove gun,,, 20 and 28ga works for quail... Shooting a 12ga for either seems way overgunned to me.. Reloading is simple but so is stocking up at ammo sales... Cheers..

A .410 can be a bit humbling on flying targets. On the skeet field they would be considered an "expert's gun". On tomatoes and such they are a perfect tool. Great for pest control too.

I have a little bolt action single shot Marlin for such. Not exactly an ammo hog.

At rebate time you can get Winchester AA for about $8.

Well I sucked it up and bought it yesterday. Mossberg 500 Series in 410 gauge. It's actually pretty nice. The only place that had it was Dick's Sporting Goods. Everybody else was sold out or could only get it as special order. Let me just say that purchasing a firearm at Dick's Sporting Goods was a very different experience. And not in a good way. They have an 11-day waiting period As well.
