    Mossberg 500

So Big 5 currently has on sale a mossberg 500 for $299. Thinking about picking one up for my first shotgun and home defense. Is this a good deal? Good shotgun as a first choice?

I would say yes. I have two of those; one in 12ga, other in 20ga. Both combo sets. HD or field use, both excellent shotguns. Can't go wrong at that price.

      Good gun.
      Good value.
      Get it.

If it's the combo set, then yes, decent deal.

It was my first shotgun. Got it on the same kind of deal about 4 years ago. Can't beat the Big 5 deal.

That's $20 less than last months sale when I picked mine up. I shot mine yesterday for the first time, ran 100 rounds of target loads flawlessly.

Can't go wrong with a 500. Works for both right hand and left handed shoots ( safety on top of the receiver ). Not so well if you want to add a pistol gripped stock.

I've been looking at getting the 500 flex, its modular like an Ar but is also a good field gun.

^ Kinda neat how that set works as hunting camo and tactical black / tan too.

Very cool package. Id imagine after a while swapping the grip and stock would get old. For 299 id go and get 2

That tan color way is nice, which they had that available at Big 5

aye_dre, curious. How many chokes does it come with? My 12ga came with 3 screw-in chokes, the 20ga with one screw in choke. Thanks.
