Question on a R870 Express shotgun. Can barrel size be changed and replaced?

Although the magazine tube can be changed in the receiver. It's not a simple change, and not recommended.
Barrels can easily be swapped on 870's with a standard length magazine tube, or one with a screw on extension, as the barrel rings are attached to the same spot on the barrels. The barrel ring for the factory 7-round, is attached to a different spot (closer to the muzzle) on the barrel.Comment

Maybe the 870 tactical has changed over the years.Although the magazine tube can be changed in the receiver. It's not a simple change, and not recommended.

I first swapped barrels 6 or 7 years ago.
It is the same 870 tactical as your pic.
It has the 28" barrel installed on it right now.
What you are saying is not correct for my Remington 870.
Edit:
Here is the text from the email from CTD dated 6/24/2007 (they were good back then)

What XVIga_Rob is saying is that in the pic above, that one particular Tactical express model uses a one-peice, 7 round magazine tube. As such, the ring that attaches the barrel to the mag tube is much farther away from the receiver than all other models, making the barrels incompatible. See the difference?

That's great if all you want is a HD/Tactical SG that ready to go out of the box (no need to buy extended mags etc...But it's bad if you want to play with different configurations. I believe that Rem only started making these in the last few years. Nothing wrong with it per se, just not gonna be a good hunting SG. It's a machete, not a Swiss Army Knife lol
But to Aippi and artb's points 99% of 870s can swap barrels in about 10 seconds.Comment

I believe XVIga_Rob is referring to a different model than mine. What XVIga_Rob is saying is that in the pic above, that one particular Tactical express model uses a one-peice, 7 round magazine tube. I mistakenly thought he was challenging my ability to swap barrels. ...
Thanks for the clarification, mase1b ...

Thanks for the additional pic & clarification mase1b.
Not at all artb.
Changing the mag tube is far beyond anything a normal user should need to do.
The factory 7-round tactical is a great gun, just kind of dedicated. I changed the pad on mine and like it alot! It's not my only shotgun....or 870, but I never have to think about what configuration it's in.
