Question on a R870 Express shotgun. Can barrel size be changed and replaced?

I'm looking to buy an 870 12 gauge express shotgun with a wooden stock.
I found a good deal, but it comes with a 28" barrel. I would like to get it with an 18" or 18 1/2" inch barrel.

Could I replace the 28" with an aftermarket or replacement 18" later down the road?

OR vice-versa, could I get one in a synthetic stock and replace it with a wooden stock?

Yes, you can get an 18.5" Barrel for it or any of the many 12ga barrels. And yes, any 12ga 870 stock fits any 12ga 870.

Just be aware of the (Remington 870 EXPRESS TACTICAL 18.5"), I haven't been able to find a larger barrel for that one.

Yeah, don't get this one. Barrels don't swap around. Any 28" is fine to swap around.

I bought a very nice blued 20-inch barrel for my 870P, they're all interchangeable.

I believe you can buy a spacer from Remington that fits between the barrel ring of your replacement barrel and the magazine cap.

I swap the barrel on my 870 Tactical between the original 18" for home defense and a 28" barrel for sporting clays.
It's designed to be an easy swap.
