Pointer Over Under

I bought mine strictly for hunting. Shells tend to bury themselves in the bushes when in the duck blind and every bush has thorns during dove. This works great for grabbing the harder to reach shells. That would be of limited use while hunting.
OP, I understand where you're coming from. I shoot a 16 gauge and losing shells hurts. One of my favorite hunting shotguns (for many reasons) is a SxS with extractors. Empties don't come out until I tell them to come out!
That being said, in this day and age the reason to get an O/U (or SxS) is for the weight and balance as well as the quality of construction. At the very least, new double guns in the sub $1000 category tend to have suboptimal weight and balance.
Other than that, I have no experience with the gun you're looking at."Bangarang Peter!"Comment

This is code for "buy a damn Beretta A300!"My experience with shotguns is somewhat limited, but it seems you get why you pay for. If you're going out once a month with your friends it should probably be fine.
If you've shooting once or twice a week, the less expensive shotguns tend to not hold up as well as a Beretta or Browning.Comment

I have a Pointer. It is a great beginner O/U. They are decently made. I bought one to try out before heavily upgrading. I use the pointer as a field/spare for when friends want to shoot. I have never had any issues with it but I don't expect it to last like a Browning or Beretta. For the money, it is a good O/U.
It shoots straight and has ejectors. I have no complaints.Last edited by Jet Setter; 03-15-2017, 12:07 AM.*********************

Would you carry that around hunting pheasant? Rabbit? Quail? More power to you, but I wouldn't carry another thing around, especially when my gun keeps it's empties just proud of the chamber when open, like a true gentleman
When duck hunting I find my shells either fall into the water or into the blind. Having a magnet on a stick is useful when they are in the water and I head out in the boat, less useful when I need to pick them up out of the blind. At any rate, that's why I claim it is of limited utility while hunting.Last edited by NapalmCheese; 03-15-2017, 12:44 AM.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

Thanks. I am going to go take a look at it. I am not expecting the world of it. Just something that shoots consistently. I have a hard time with the idea of carrying a $1K gun into the brush and beating it up.I have a Pointer. It is a great beginner O/U. They are decently made. If you are in the Sac area, you are welcome to try mine before you purchase. It has been a while since it has been used. I am usually at the trap matches in Lincoln.*********************

Look for the Japan made Orion....we hunt upland and shot thousands of clays with ours ....mine went ~15,000 before the right hammer spring let go and the trigger return spring went at ~17,000 ....action lock-up is still tight and its still going.
Its the same flitting as a Citori Lightning but about 3/4lb lighter.Last edited by Thefeeder; 03-16-2017, 9:50 PM.Comment

Checked out the gun and it felt good. Good budget over under. I ended up getting a good deal on a ppt of a browning cynergy from a buddy of mine. He was selling it because it didn't fit him right.

I don't know anything about the Pointer, but, buying a Cynergy is without doubt a step up. A big step up. I'd say you've done good.Comment
