    16ga

Does anyone know of a store/shop that stocks 16ga shot shells?
Low base, for trap/skeet, not hunting, for use in a older gun (probably '20's manufacture, not damaskas barrels).
I'm only looking for a few boxes, not case lots.

I saw some at Turners in San Marcos recently.

They are 2X the cost of 12 ga.

If it's an OU or SxS you can get chamber inserts and shoot 28Ga shells in it.
Not the cheapest shells, but most 16ga guns are light and kick pretty good so the 28ga will make it a pleasure to shoot in the clay games.

I've found them at Wal-Mart (though not in your area) with decent regularity.

          OP--Does your 16ga have a 2 9/16" chamber ? or the modern standard 2 3/4" chamber?
          What are the barrels marked"

Originally had short chambers, but it has been reamed to 2 3/4.
Chamber inserts sound interesting. I wonder if there are 16 to 20 available? How would a insert pattern?
But then again, for the few boxes that I would shoot a year, it's probably better to just try to get some locally.

My suggestion is to replace the shotgun over the fireplace as decoration....

Next suggestion would be to order a flat- 10 boxes- and you are set

How are you going to use the shotgun?

Does the trap range where you will go shooting stock 16 gauge?

If you are going to shoot a 16ga, I recommend looking for a decent deal on a case, save the hulls and start reloading.
                    That's what I do.

Otherwise, trade it in for a 12 or 20.

Seems like a terrible thing to do IMO.
Then again I happen to be a 16 gauge fan.

I plan on selling some in the marketplace soon. It will be basic birdshot loads.

                            I find them at Sportsman's. 2 3/4" 1oz #8, usually same price as 12's.

Most of my 16 gauge came from Big 5. For some odd reason, they carry it -- probably because guys like me will buy all of it whenever we see it.
