Not quite, but what we would call directionally correct. True that chamber pressure is irrelevant with regards to recoil (actual or felt). But the missing factor in your statement is velocity. The old "3 Dram Equivalent" does not mean much these days because velocity is all over the place in modern loads. If you had said that a 1200 fps load with 9/8oz shot would generate the same recoil whether chamber pressure was 8K or 11K, that would be correct. One manufacturer's 3 dram load might be 1200fps and another's might be 1250 fps, but both labeled as 3 dram. Physics likes small differences in velocity.

I shoot in a weekly trap league. Those that have bought a 725seem happy with it. If I ever upgrade from my current shotgun, this is what I'd likely get.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.

My skeet buddy shoots his 28g 725 better than any other gun, including his Perazzi

My comment did not refer to specific loads. My comment was that shotguns as a class have a softer, different felt recoil than rifles and my opinion that people overestimate (and needlessly fear) shotgun felt recoil. I base this on a lifetime of club shooting including probably a few hundred thousand shotgun rounds expended over about 45 years. I have taught a lot of people to shoot over the years and once they get the fit and mount right, they can shoot all day with no bruises.
i think that you are incorrect. i am sure a lot of people that have been shooting for years and years, shooting release triggers due to flinching would also think that you are incorrect. and these people dont have any problems with gun fit and mount. they are obviously important, but some even target loads are harsh. this is why there are tons of low recoil, 1 oz shells now. after shooting 6+ boxes of some target shells i will sometimes get visible bruising on my shoulder if only shooting in a t shirt. this is with a competition p/u, not even a field gun.

LOL what!? i can see the calguns classified ad now. great condition. hardly shot. cleaned often

is your gun an o/u? you should use grease on o/u not lube. you should wipe off the grease after you are done shooting, and before putting the gun together when you shoot you should regrease with fresh grease. this takes a min when you are done shooting, and another min before you start. once a month i will usually do more of a deep clean. bore snake, clean choke tubes, threads, etc.

do you grease it ever? there are tight tolerances with metal on metal contact and you opening and closing it with abrasive particles is not doing your gun any favors. are your choke tubes welded on by now?
