mag tube capacity question?

when i see on the remington website it says the 870 holds 7 shells. i understand this to mean 6+1 but what i don't quite know if this is 2 3/4 or 3 shells. i think its 6+1 2 2/3" and 5+1 3" is this correct?

It's rated using 2.75" shells. 6+1 and 7+1 all refer to 2 3/4" shells.

I know my Winchester Defender 1300 is like that,7+1 for 2.75", and 6+1 for 3"

i figured that a slug or a 3" shell takes one off the capicity.

An 18.5" barrel 870 has 7+1 capacity capability with a aftermarket tube extension that's flush with the muzzle. The factory tube extension by design limits the capacity to 6+1 for 2.75" standard shells.

2.75" Shells like Wolf are roll crimped and are longer. With roll crimped shells you will get one less round in the tube.

i hold 5+1 2 3/4"
and 5+1 3"

bought this at big 5, the 18.5" barrel and the 28"
