I've got both a Wingmaster pump and a 1187 skeet model shotguns.
The pump for 40+ years and the skeet gun for +25...........neither have ever given me problems in all that time.

Something else that validates this maybe is I've never seen one of those pistol grip with no buttstock shotguns(a joke IMO) in a semi, only in a pump.
The recoil spring for the carrier is in the buttstock.

Well, J.D., if and when you might acquire an R12, make it two and I'll purchase one. Or make it three and I'll purchase one. Either way.

pennstater, I appreciate the compliment of sorts... that is a Coleman 242C, made in '49 or '50... they made a quite a few back in the day, and one in excellent condition usually closes at 80 - 100 bucks on fleabay. Good luck! The lanterns in my collection are not for sale. It has taken a long time to acquire the pieces I have...

Meanwhile, I also appreciate the combined experience posted here in this thread. While I own two beautiful, similar-vintage Wingmasters and have outfitted them as defense shotguns with short barrels, Supercell recoil pads and Flextab conversions (from AI&P), I share the enthusiasm of every one that has posted in this thread. I love these things. Love firing them. Love looking at them. They are without a doubt some of the finest-looking, well-functioning American shotguns ever made.

Explore our range of shotguns, handguns, slug guns, rifled barrels & more. Feel free to contact Ithaca Gun Company at your convenience and we’ll be happy to get in touch with you.

They'll still hand fit a barrel to your sub 855,000 serial number M37 if you would like.

One of these days I'll get around to buying a 28 gauge Featherlight with a field barrel.

This has nothing to do with Remington 1100s and 11-87s however, other than not knowing a thing exists doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

From what I've read................ Ithaca is building some of the best shotguns ever, when it comes to fit and finish?
Unfortunately, with a price tag that match!

Is the R12 gonna be available for us mere morals? I was only able to locate it under their defense website??
I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.

My Ithaca 37 was purchased new in 1974. I think I paid around $175.00 for it at the time. That was a lot of money back then for a pump shotgun. I paid $180.00 for my Remington 870 Wingmaster around the same time, (1976).
If common sense was so common, why don't liberals possess any?

Duh on me. Wasn't even thinking about that. There are some semi's now that have the spring around the magazine tube, i.e. Franchi Affinity but the vast majority are in the buttstock.
