    Keep it as basic as possible. Adding just a Velcro side saddle, a small light and a stock that you are comfortable with.
    I went through 3 different stocks before I settled with a hogue 12 LOP. Love that stock.

      A stock that fits you, a shell holder (I prefer the ones that go on the stock that you can get for $5), and ammo.

      If you want to dress it up a heatshield works.

        Ding ding ding Winner!

        That's why at my business office I work at in the heart of LA, I keep my 88 there in case of riots/SHTF/apocalypse. A nice basic, reliable, and inexpensive shotgun, and if you lose it it's no big deal (mine was $239 OTD, counting DROS).
        My true range toys such as the 590a1, 870, and more "precious" guns are not in the frontlines at risk of being relinquished after being used in a self-defense scenario (unless I'm at home). Cheaper weapons like the 88 are good "proxy" guns without sacrificing firepower or reliability. Only catch is it's a bit harder to customize than a regular 500 (not complete parts interchangeability).

          I've never heard anyone bad talk the 88. Everything I've ever heard is it is the most shotgun you can get for the money, and while it may not have the durability of the 500/590's it does have the reliability.

            Here's a thread on mine. I'll try to post a picture with sling/mounts/light installed.

              The 88 was the best $199.00 I ever spent. Anvil like reliability. 8 shot model at Big5 on sale at that price.

                can I ask which barrel length you went with?

                been looking at getting one of these myself, but not sure which one

                18", 22", 24" or 28"
                The skeleton arm won't work with that

                  18" = 5+1 shots
                  20" = 7+1 shots
                  Don't know about the others

                    I have one, changed the stock and foregrip to the hogue tamer setup,
                    Had to get a Mossberg 500 action tube to make it work.
                    Then I ordered 150 rifled slugs and 100 rounds of 00 buck for home defense.
                    I'm good.

                      Nice purchase OP, you'll like it. I have one of the Big5 specials with the 2 barrel lengths, no complaints here. enjoy it as a cheap shotgun and don't worry about upgrading it.
