    Thoughts on Keltec KSG?

I'm thinking about picking up a Keltec KSG, but I have some concerns. I was wondering if anyone else had experiences good or bad with it? I've read some stories of shooters sustaining injuries while using vertical grips attached to the polymer fore end.

    Any info is appreciated.

Several years back (2013) I attended Gunsite's shotgun courses, 260 & SATP. A fellow student brought a Keltec KSG, and could not make it through the second day of the training using that weapon. Issues included malfunctions of several types, using different brand/types of factory loaded ammunition, during the use of birdshot, buckshot, and slugs. The short overall length would be a plus while running through indoor simulators, as were several SBS weapons, but the Keltec had to be changed out for an 870 by that time.
In addition, at that time Kel Tec actually rated the weapon with a very low "rounds fired" service life. I have never seen that before.
I would advise against including one in your armory.

The video games make them out to be awesome....

I think the folks at keltek could benefit from additional ISO certifications as there Guns seems to have good and bad batches...

It's a shotgun designed by children for children.

I watched a KelTec sales rep attempting to demonstrate the "weapon" in front of our local county sheriff and some of his folks. The result was a joke...many failures to feed and jams. The guy apologized and left and has not returned.

For the kids that think they're cool, ask yourselves why KT has never sold the gun to the military or a law enforcement group.

I've ran about 200 shells through mine. Rack it like you mean it. Accurate, compact and has ran flawless thus far.

It's a cool novelty. The concept is certainly great but other than that I wouldn't buy one, wish the quality wasn't so inconsistent and spotty.

Sure, a few of the early ones had action and timing issues. Yeah MAC had problems but his dress and bra got in the way...

But I like mine. And hickok45 running this KSG 3 years ago likes his....

New ones are fine according to the internet.

The thing with slugs is incredibly accurate. Prices are down to the $799 range...
              Not bad.

The real question is, why do you need it?
I guess this toy is to be happy 2 times, 1st when you buy it and 2nd when you finally sell it for 1/2 price since you do not know what to do with it.

And frankly, i know the answer of 99.99% of guys who owned it: "because i can"....

                      It is awesome.

Most of the people that hate don't own or have never shot it. They hate because of the looks or because it is cool to hate on the KSG - and make dumb comments like it is some sort of toy because it is unique.

I have put well over 3k rounds through mine of all brands and sizes - including Aguila minishot shells, and styles from slugs to various birdshot... zero issues. Zero.

I have videos online of 50-75 yard shots on 10x10 steel plates, deadly accurate.

I put away my Mossberg and this is my main shotgun and with Aguila's on board I have +20 rounds. I have had mine for years now.

I would like to try one, unfortunately they don't allow the KSG at the trap field where I shoot (Sunnyvale) so I don't see them at the range. Hopefully as they become more available, Reeds will have one for rental.

I've only shot mine once and only 20 rounds. 10 rds of slugs, 5 rds of 00 buck and 5 rds of #1 buck. All rounds cycled fine and after I sighted in the Magpul BUIS which took about 3 rds at 10 yrds, I shot about 5 slugs out to 100 yards and hit the gong 4 out of 5 times. I loved it. What's not to like? 14 rounds in the tubes with a Bullpup design. Sure, I was hesitant to get one because I had a PF9 that was total junk and turned me off to KelTec. But after a lot of research found the newer KSG's seemed to function just fine with a lot of positive reviews. I found that to be true so far.

Personally I didn't like the KSG. Very harsh recoil and bad ejection port location. You can't shoot through both tube in one go, you have to hit an empty round then hit the switch to continue. Even for the 800 price, I would put in an extra 100 or so to get a Remington Versa Max Sportsman instead.
