browning vs beretta o/u

It all depends on where in the world you are. In the USA, Browning field models are not ported while, until recently, the sporting models were ported(they started selling non-ported sporting models here this year I think). Go to Europe and you will find virtually no ported Brownings of either style.
My 23 year old Browning GTI Ultra Sporting is ported, and was not available here without the ports.

Have to say Beetle nailed it here. I can't comment on Brownings CS as I haven't needed to use it [yet]has better customer service - both are kinda bad. Browning has VERY long wait times. Beretta used to be the same, but at least now you can send Beretta repairs to Coles which is much better.
reliability - the same
needs more maintenance - the same. Over under are pretty easy to take care of.
locking mechanism - different, but overall the same. Brownings use a underlug design which adds slightly to the complexity of the overall design. Berettas are simpler. The reality is that they will both last a long time.
maintenance cost - same
better wood/reciever coating - depends on what you like. Brownings typically use a poly finish, so the wood will be glossy. Berettas will typically have a dull oil finish. Browning wood is nicer on the lower end. Berettas will have very nice wood on the higher end.
net result? the same.LA CCW:

all of my skeet shooting friends have at least one Browning Citori. I have 4 in various Grades and Gauges. Hard to beat a Nice Used Citori for holding it's value and for being great to shoot.
I have had great Customer Service from Browning with reasonable wait times. YMMD.
Not a fan of Berettas other than their Autoloaders which are pretty impressive for durability.
BTW I normally shoot Skeet with one of my Perazzis so I don't have too much of a dog in this fight...TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

IMHO they are about equal, as the OP said, It all depends which fits the best. To solve all those issues, spend a few bucks more and get a CG.Comment
