No, the cover swings back down like it should. And again, when the action is pumped slowly, everything works like it should. But if it's pumped fast and hard, that's when snap caps come flying out.

Remington 870 Problem

I have this exact problem with my son's 870 20ga.I know right what you ere talking about,BUT I don't know what to do about it.I've talked to every body I know and they say they never heard about that.
If your snapcaps are correct and they prolly are,it will happen with ammo too.It does not make any diff of Rem. Federal Fiocci(sp?) Faststeel.Does not matter 2 3/4 or 3" high base or low base.
I'm fed up w/my sons and it stays in the safe.Untill I can fix it.
Just to tell you mine does shoot safley it's OK that way ,I just don't want to take it hunting and accidentally get shot by my son,due to the lack of attention or concentration while fiddleing w/a malfunction.
He is a safe hunter I'm just not taking a malfunctioning firearm w/us.

I'm just concerned because my friend is using this shotgun as his home defense weapon. What the hell is he going to do if he tries to load a round and the thing goes spitting out the bottom?
He's fairly new to firearms, and even though I'm teaching him what to do and how, I'm not sure he'll be able to realize what's happened in time to fix it if his adrenaline is pumping and it's pitch black at 2 in the morning.Comment

Exactly why you/I/He shoundn't trust or use a firearm that malfunctions. With that said He-We all need to train ourselves.Immediate action drills and the like.I'm just concerned because my friend is using this shotgun as his home defense weapon. What the hell is he going to do if he tries to load a round and the thing goes spitting out the bottom?

I,myself go by the fight how I train methodology.--full gear, full speed only after the training and muscle memory are set. But this includes properly maintained and functioning firearms.
When you guys figure it out, please post up with the solution.

What I do is take an empty shell and then cut the end off right where it normally would have folded over.Apparently the problem has stopped, although it was me that was having the rounds drop more than my friend was. I don't know, maybe tomorrow we'll try loading a few different live rounds and see if they work. Kinda nervous about loading live rounds into a potentially defective firearm though. Oh well.Comment
