I recently found a benelli m4 with collapsable stock, NIB. Owner wants almost 5 G's for it. Is that an acceptable price as a buyer or should I tell him to pound sound? Thanks, David.

That's probably a 1014 with the US flag on the side of the receiver.
Tell him to pound sand.
It's an assault weapon in CA.

As far as I know, the M1014 versions with the US flag were sold by Benelli during the Fed AWB years and shipped with a fixed "skeleton" stock. They also had a fixed choke.

If this particular gun has a collapsible stock it would most likely be a later model M4. There is a smaller possibility that it is an M1014 that has been modified to allow for the stock to collapse, but IIRC that requires some slots/etc in the recoil tube to be milled out.

Thanks for the response everyone, it is very helpful. It is a beautiful shotgun but $5000.00 is a bit much. It does have the flag and collapsable stock. I could see something under $2000, but you all are right. Pound sand sounds good to me. I am looking so if anyone knows of a much better deal send them my way. davizworld@cox.net. I have a M2 and a M4, the M4 kicks allot less.

M4 is gas piston and M2 is enursha driven ( ensrsha is the wrong spelling) simular to the super black eagle

by field he means Benelli Field model -- they come with vent rib barrel.

GR = ghost ring.

Don't get a Benelli with ghost rings because then you'll be stuck with the rear sight on the receiver even if you swap out the barrel.

Not true.
The rear sight is held on with 2 screws that are easily removed.

We don't allow shotties.
In open class, you can run optics on a shotgun.
In tactical/limited class, iron sights only.

Just curious AFAIK M1 is Inertia and M4 is gas. Which one has more muzzle flip and recoil?
Looking to buy a HK M1S90 for 3gun, but M2 is readily avail. but have a legality question of what is legal for tube extension.

Not had much experience with anything more than 3 shot. Always used shotguns for upland game.

Any comments?

If you want the top shelf for 3 gun get the Benelli M2. If there were better guns I'd use them. Not because I'm a good shooter because I can. The best 3 gunners in the world shoot Benelli. Not because they are sponsored because they aren't it's because the M2 is the best shotgun for limited/tactical class 3 gun.
