A new shotgun?

No question the Browning Gold is lighter recoiling than an A300 but they only come new in 10 gauge. The Gold, Silver and SX3 are the same gun internally and are known for being soft shooters.Comment

I shot the a400 as a rental gun one time and was largely unimpressed. Definitely will be saving my money in that gun

I do think the Maxus is an outstanding shotgun. It is a better shotgun than the A300 and its price reflects such. That takes nothing away from the A300, it is an excellent shotgun. I like them enough that I bought one, knowing I wouldn't shoot it well, I didn't. Beretta's just don't fit me because of their stock dimensions. I've owned two and couldn't shoot them. The issue was fit, not quality of the firearm.
My Maxus didn't fit either, it finally did after quite a bit of work. Most Benelli's do not fit me, the Montefeltro does in both gauges, the M2 does in 20. My next shotgun I purchase will be an M2.
I keep talking about fit because IMO it is paramount. Shotgun brand doesn't even matter any more. If I were the OP my quest would concentrate on purchasing the shotgun with the best fit. Shims and LOP spacers will only get you so far. The advantage of a wood stock, other than looks, is a wood stock is easier to alter to get a a proper fit.
The only shotgun I don't own below is the Vinci, couldn't get it to fit. The one thing they all have in common is LOP between 14"-14.25", DAC OF 1.5" and DAH of 2.25". Some of the guns came that way and some have been altered to get there. I have a turkey shotgun not pictured. Stock dimensions were not a big consideration because it is aimed like a rifle.
