Try contacting Surefire. They might be able to send you a replacement or whatever their current model is.

Be careful. Your light is warrantied for life, however, if they can't repair the pad they will send you a POS DSF as your model has been discontinued. I would contact them, ask for a repair only and ensure they don't replace your light.

If the part is not available, if possible remove the pressure pad, cut away the pad material and re heat shrink it.

What don't you like about the DSF? Being a LE armorer you would have better insight/knowledge than most. Thanks for your service.

Send it into Surefire....they will very likely be able to repair it without having to replace it with a current gen forend.

They were able to repair one of my weaponlights made in the late 90's/early 2000's.....

Just called surefire today. After a 40min wait on the phone, they said they have the part in stock and will replace for free!

Was the DSF a direct replacement for the 618?

Cool beans. Yes, the DSF is the only one they make now. The idiots there just had to change for the sake of change. They dropped the 318 and 618 lights and now the DSF is the only Option for the 870. It is bulky and heavy, the front comes back and pounds your hand under recoil and the entire feel of it sucks. It had a major battery drain when it was introduced and they would not acknowledge it but instead blamed it on the customer. One of my customers was the first to have the issue and I contacted them about it only to be faced with their denial. My customer, Lance from San Diego also got the runaround. We both stuck to our guns and they recalled all the lights and fixed the issue. I had DSF's in stock but they would not take them back till they fixed all the retail customers first. So, I could not sell the ones I had for months till at last they took them back and sent me new ones.

If it is not broke don't fix it. Surefire should have understood that and continued with the 318's and 618's. I was after them for years to come out with a dual power forend. 20 lumens on the low end for inside and 200 for outside. So they finally do and screw it up with 200 on the low end and 600 on the high end. They have been the leader in weapons lights for many years but somehow fail to understand how they are applied in tactical situations. Guess that is why they are in bankruptcy right now. Of course they will restructure and make a come back but they need more intelligent people making the decisions. I look forward to them making such a come back as I am a Surefire Professional dealer but have stopped carrying their products till they get their stuff together. I am guessing that they will come back stronger then ever. Well, I hope so.
