Mounted shotgun. My nose is right by the joint on my thumb closest to the palm.

You should have about 1 ~ 1.5" between your nose and thumb, your LOP should be a bit longer.

Since I am practicing my mount, I squint to see how level the barrel is. I wont be squinting when I shoot.

Many things to learn. I am fascinated by shotguns right now.

It's one of the measures I found to check LOP.

1) crook of elbow to first finger joint LOP
2) distance of nose to thumb when mounted
3) 5 3/4 inches to the back of trigger vs nose

As a general rule, #2 is best as it takes into account your stance.

I have been playing around with shotgun fit for years based on several books, and trying different things. I for the most part only use my guns for hunting, so i'm not around experts. If you are serious about shotgun shooting, go get fit by someone who knows what they are doing, my guess from my experience is its well worth the investment in time and money. I have never felt like I have got it right.
