    Fit adjustment question?

    I am 5'6".

The factory configuration is such that I am looking up at the bead slightly. It has an upward bias. The way I understand fit adjustments, I should be adding drop to correct this. Is that right?

Cause I did that and it didn't work. I found myself adding rise to be looking straight along the barrel. So much so that I used the max spacer that came with the shotgun.

    Advise appreciated.

This is serous advice, work with someone that knows about gun mount, and gun fit.

You can't even start to talk about gun fit, until you have a perfect gun mount.

I appreciate your advice. I will work on my gun mount and look into some training.

Where do you live? It seems there are clinics north and south these days.

I'd hate have you start chasing gun fit, only to find out it's a gun mount issue.

One always comes before the other.

Also, what kind of shotgun are you shooting, and does it have an adjustable comb?

Well, he just got a 930 JM Pro, so I am assuming that is it. Not sure how much you can angle it with the recoil spring in it, but maybe a wedge kit would work? Pretty cheap to try.

At 5'6" he may have LOP issues too. As a said, it's all about gun mount first.

When I got home, I watched a few videos, read articles on mounting and took some videos of myself as well mounting the shotgun.

I figured out that I was bringing my face down to do a cheek weld. I kept my face as stationary as possible in doing the cheek weld, readjusted the stock and it looks like I now have the same sight picture, but with a head that is held at a normal position.

LOP is 13". The trigger is exactly at the finger joint of my index finger with the butt resting at the crook of my elbow when my arm is bent 90 degrees.

This should be a good start. Thanks again.

The gun comes with a bunch of shims to raise and lower the stock. .375 rise to .25 drop in increments of 1/8th inch.

When I mount my Browning 525, my head doesn't move at all. I mount the gun to my cheek, not my cheek to the gun.

You want your eyes as level as possible.

I got so used to bench shooting, I was doing the same. Thanks for your help.

I am trying to get the gun to fit and work on my mounting. I will be seeking further refinements in the future. Just doing what I can at home.

Thank you for the invitation. I'd like to take you up on it. I am away on business from the 7th to 15th. Anything after that, I am game!

Frankly, I bought a shotgun to do 3 gun. Something that I did just to do something else. I didnt think I'd like the gun as much as I do. So stoked.

Mounted shotgun. My nose is right by the joint on my thumb closest to the palm.

Not bad, but stick your butt out.
