    Beretta Silver Pigeon I sporting

    Hi Guys,

Just bought a used Beretta Silver Pigeon I Sporting 30" from a fellow calgunner for $1750. Gun is in pristine like new condition, as per the seller he had it for one year and shot 250rds. How can i clean the handling marks on the stock? grip on the stock (where you hold) is little dark from handling/sweat; i believe it will happen when you handle the gun.

    Is it a good deal?

250 rounds would equal about 45 minutes of actual handling time. Either he had real dirty hands or the gun has been shot a lot more than 250 rounds.

A little dark or a different shade completely? Sounds like the seller severely underestimated the round count. In any case, I am not sure how you could clean up the wood without stripping some of the finish. Have you tried some bees wax to condition/revive the wood?

Post some pics for better illustration please.

It is about market price for a used 12ga SP1 in California. They sell for less in other areas.

OP - it looks absolutely fine. The only darker area is see is on the checkering. That is normal to me. Just oil or wax it and call it a day. Shoot and enjoy the heck out of it.

As far as pricing - seems OK. It was not a "steal of a deal." Aren't these under $2k new? Too high for my taste but I am frugal.

Who are you trying to convince, us or yourself?

It's a nice gun for a fair price. You'll enjoy it.
