How do you store your shells?

Mine (reloads) are in large (approx 5 gal) cat littler buckets, loose. Hold 500+ 12g and 650+ 20g. The lids aren't sealed but secure to anything but flood. I load several different loads in volume. I usually have several buckets of each.

These are a bit heavy for toting to the range,

I just store them in my wife's China cabinet. In the bottom. Lordy, I sure hope she don't open that anytime soon!

Same boxes and case they are shipped in. Keep the cases dry and your good to go for at least 25 years. Just shot off 125 shells stored in the original boxes stacked in a milk creat since the late 80's ....all shot as normal.

I do this too, just keep them somewhere cool and dry and you'll be fine. The boxes that the shotshells ship in are very compact and easy to stack.

There are larger ammo cans available. I store all of my ammo in surplus ammo cans. They are made to preserve and protect military ammo, and they are inexpensive, so that is all I use.

I hate to say it but you guys are probably right about the ammo cans. I'll look into getting some bigger ones for my shotshells, and maybe store those inside that Ridgid cabinet Ducky's Dad posted above, just to keep everything tidy.

Best answer. You buy shells in case lots leave them in the case. Once the case is opened I move then into USGI ammo cans.
