How do you store your shells?

I'm looking for semi-long-term storage ideas for my shotshells. The obvious answer is ammo cans, but the problem is 1 can doesn't hold that many shells, maybe 150. I'm looking to store like 2500 shells, in the factory 25rd boxes if possible, in some sort of airtight container, without having to use like 25 ammo cans. What do you guys do? Bonus points for inexpensive ideas
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Get a pelican 1650 and just dump ammo in. Has wheels for transport.

There are larger ammo cans available. I store all of my ammo in surplus ammo cans. They are made to preserve and protect military ammo, and they are inexpensive, so that is all I use.

        ><

Same boxes and case they are shipped in. Keep the cases dry and your good to go for at least 25 years. Just shot off 125 shells stored in the original boxes stacked in a milk creat since the late 80's ....all shot as normal.

If you're not going to be moving your stash much, search Craig's list for an old chest type freezer, add some desiccant and you're set.

I store them in factory boxes/cases or in 5 gallon buckets loose.

5 gallon bucket sounds like a perfect idea... guaranteed to be sealed, cheap, and portable. Thanks for the tip!

I store my reloads in 3 or 5 gallon buckets. I store my factoryloads in the plastic South African ammo boxes. Those hold 800 rounds of 20ga.

When I find a good deal on buckshot, I stock up

To be fair, I only have about 1500 shells currently, but I'm always buying way more than I shoot, so I gotta plan ahead. It's an interesting thing with shotshells, because they're so bloody huge. Storing 1500 rounds of 22lr is as simple is putting it in a small tupperware in my sock drawer.

40mm (linked for mk19) cans are great. I can fit about 400 shells of 12ga in boxes in them. Can probably get another 100-150 rds if 20ga.

If I get some time I'll check a 20 or 25mm (I forget) for capacity.
